thanks for all the instructional videos. I looked up strings on amazon, the power slinkys 110 are able to be tuned down to a B? I think watching string theory with Justin Chancellor has done more harm than good, 🤘🤘

Great question!! I use 115’s and am set up for C-Standard - this works ok for tuning to B Standard every once in awhile. If I were to permanently set up in B Standard, I would use 120’s or 125’s🤘
@patrickdehertogh2080 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for always taking time to respond. I realize that vid 3 years old. I took your prior advise that the rotosound jazz77 at 110 would work for C sharp turnings and works well. Thanks again🤘

Hey Jered! I'm so glad I've found your channel, you have such a great taste of music and play great and your explanations are easy to learn, so first of all, thank you for your work! I have a question (might be asked a lot of times tho): I have a standard Jazz Bass with EADG tuning and 45-105 strings. Should I get some thicker strings to tune that low? Because 45-105 just don't feel right for me tuned that low. And also should I replace the nut to put some thicker strings like from the five-string? I've tried to put the BEAD strings from the five-string (idk the gauge to be honest, just random old strings I've got from a drummer :D) and they didn't fit in my bass's nut. Sorry for my mediocre English skills :D
@BeholdenToTheRiff2 жыл бұрын
Great question! For BEAD tuning I would use 55 or 60 for the now D string and 120 or 125 on the B string. As for the nut, you will most likely have to get them widened a little, but only necessary if you’re going to keep your bass in B standard for the foreseeable future🤘
@firstname44742 жыл бұрын
@@BeholdenToTheRiff I actually think I'll buy an another bass to keep one in BEAD. I just don't like the five-string ones, you know, I'd rather have a four-string with a low tuning. I have relatively small hands so I prefer Jazz Bass over the P-bass even though I like the sound of both. Thank you for the tips

I'm a new bass player and the only pedal I have is the Big Muff by "Electro-Harmonix". Do you have any videos featuring it or can you maybe do one?
@BeholdenToTheRiff2 жыл бұрын
That’s so cool that you have started to play bass! I don’t have a Big Muff, but they are an awesome pedal and will work great for Monolord riffs🤘
@Denvercoder2 жыл бұрын
@@BeholdenToTheRiff I'm going from my Bass to a TU-3 then over to the Big Muff. Is there an easy way to use the TU-3 to tune down two steps? Do you have any videos on how to tune down? Like right now the TU-3 just auto tunes my 4 strings but is there a way to just say, "Tune down two steps? I realize that your channel isn't for complete beginners so if you can even point me in the right direction that would be awesome.
@BeholdenToTheRiff2 жыл бұрын
@@Denvercoder Great question! The easiest way that I have found is to set the TU-3 to “Chromatic” mode. In this setting the tuner will display the note and pitch being played making it way easier to tune down. From there, tune the G-String down 2 steps to Eb/D#, the D-String down to Bb/A#, the A-String down to F, and the E-String down to C. Hope that helps🤘
@Denvercoder2 жыл бұрын
@@BeholdenToTheRiff That does help, a lot. I was watching other videos and they were like, "To tune down to B standard you need to change the strings, or just get a second bass. :D

You can use a 5 string right? What is the difference between a 4 and a 5 string? I assume tension?
@BeholdenToTheRiff11 ай бұрын
Definitely!! A 5 string tuned to BEADG will work great due to the tension from the thicker strings🤘

@@BeholdenToTheRiff thank you, just bought 110s (i thought you used 110 top) it turned out i would have to drill in my bass to have thicker strings. Anyway I have cheap second hand bass, and strings were 2/3rd of its price :p Im a guitar player but i try to chase that doom tone, and bass does most of the job so Im experimenting with it. Anyway...
