I think the BET Awards should have a country music category as well as a rock category. Its not like they can't. We have to stop complaining about black artists not getting awards and just create our own platforms.

💯💯 absolutely! There are Black folks in EVERY genre and Black artists get pigeonholed into certain music categories even when it doesnt makes sense. I remember the community being up in arms because Tyler the Creator said IGOR was not a rap or urban album in regard to his 2019 Best Rap Album Grammy win. And here we are 5 years later still trying to be considered for genres outside of what is considered Black music. This is what he was talking about. I know Tyler has said some questionable things so please know i am not talking about Tyler the Creator as a person but just the album Igor.

Shaboozey is an independent artist who doesn’t use Nashville producers and writers- so that’s another factor too. Yea race is a factor, but BET/Soul Train Awards need to award artists who make other genres outside of r&b and rap. They are part of the problem. The CMA’s and Grammy’s only have so much weight because it’s allowed.

Race isn't a factor. The CMAs have featured several Black artists over the years. Notable names include Charley Pride, the first Black CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1971; Darius Rucker, who transitioned from rock to country; Jimmie Allen, a New Artist of the Year winner; Kane Brown, who has performed and been nominated; Mickey Guyton, a trailblazing Black woman in country; and Ruthie Foster, known for her blues and folk roots. I think the CMAs have more of an issue with hip hop and rap than the artists being black.

And I believe that is why the cma is not really embracing Beyoncé because “she’s more of a rnb girl”. Here's the deal, Cowboy Carter may not have been as country as most people would’ve liked liked, but it had a number of country songs like Texas Hold 'Em, Bodyguard, Jolene, Alligator tears, Leviï's Jeams, YA YA, etc. It may not have been a country album in it's entirety, it the country songs were there. The CMAs' stance on Beyoncé is DEFINITELY about race. The whole pop star-R&B argument is pure nonsense. Post Malone didn't receive this much energy when he transitioned from hip hop to country, so yes, it's definitely about race. Period!!!

Bey & Shaboozey's race isn't a factor.

1. Race? It has nothing to do with it. Other artists are simply better. Beyonce is not a country singer and her songs are not great. She has no shame and self respect. If Fantasia, for example, decides to do a pop album to make money, you'll be the first to criticize but when it's Beyonce, it's amazing lol. Simple. If Jojo win an RNB award instead of Summer Walker, you guys are going to complain as well but if Khalid wins a pop award instead of Ariana Grande, you're going to support even if you know, he's not on the same level at all. Your whole logic does not make sense, we are proud to be black but we want great music from everybody, not just black artists. 2. Flo is great, they will definetely give us great songs for a long time but it's a bit too pop'ish to me. I want the real RNB. I love June's Diary, very talented but they have no hits, maybe touring with Muni Long will help them.
