I think the BET Awards should have a country music category as well as a rock category. Its not like they can't. We have to stop complaining about black artists not getting awards and just create our own platforms.
@IndigenousExotical4 күн бұрын
💯💯 absolutely! There are Black folks in EVERY genre and Black artists get pigeonholed into certain music categories even when it doesnt makes sense. I remember the community being up in arms because Tyler the Creator said IGOR was not a rap or urban album in regard to his 2019 Best Rap Album Grammy win. And here we are 5 years later still trying to be considered for genres outside of what is considered Black music. This is what he was talking about. I know Tyler has said some questionable things so please know i am not talking about Tyler the Creator as a person but just the album Igor.

Darius sounds like a wm and all of his bandmates were yt aswell, so these things definitely played a part in his success w/ a r@cist ssa demographic Bcuz once he went solo, he said that he personally visited 110 radio stations in 2008 to get his first country single, "Don't Think I Don't Think About It", airplay. Something Post Malone didn't have to do. Even Darius' music video shows a yt couple, NOT a biracial man & ww, and definitely not a bm & ww. He didn't try some half ssa pandering of "erasing" a wm in his own video while showing a ww, something that wp (and bm) LOVE doing with to bw, when casting a bm paried with a biracial women instead of a bw.

We still haven’t learned anything yet. Exactly your point Empressive, Post Malone was able to come in and out of hip-hop so fast and now Iook at where we are. Not that we should never be non-inclusive or cold towards those who respect the genres that we have formulated in the music industry, but there needs to be a line. Wasn’t Childish Gambino just talking about this at the BET awards? How does Sam Smith have more BET awards than him?

Also, Beyoncé had the Dixie Chicks when she preformed. The country music industry stop messing with the Dixie Chicks when they came at President Bush. Bey & Shaboozey's race isn't a factor. The CMAs have featured several Black artists over the years. Notable names include Charley Pride, the first Black CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1971; Darius Rucker, who transitioned from rock to country; Jimmie Allen, a New Artist of the Year winner; Kane Brown, who has performed and been nominated; Mickey Guyton, a trailblazing Black woman in country; and Ruthie Foster, known for her blues and folk roots. I think the CMAs have more of an issue with hip hop and rap than the artists being black.

Saying they don't have issues with racism is the funniest thing I've read in awhile. Those 3 examples you gave do NOT negate the ongoing racism. 1. Race? It has nothing to do with it. Other artists are simply better. Beyonce is not a country singer and her songs are not great. She has no shame and self respect. If Fantasia, for example, decides to do a pop album to make money, you'll be the first to criticize but when it's Beyonce, it's amazing lol. Simple. If Jojo win an RNB award instead of Summer Walker, you guys are going to complain as well but if Khalid wins a pop award instead of Ariana Grande, you're going to support even if you know, he's not on the same level at all. Your whole logic does not make sense, we are proud to be black but we want great music from everybody, not just black artists. 2. Flo is great, they will definetely give us great songs for a long time but it's a bit too pop'ish to me. I want the real RNB. I love June's Diary, very talented but they have no hits, maybe touring with Muni Long will help them.

Just my opinion, beyonce's country album didn't give country at all. She doesn't have the voice for it. (No rasp, southern twang, belt/yodel type sound.) I stand with the Country artists; she doesn't belong in their genre. It has nothing to do with her race.
@JUSTSAYING-dg4hu3 күн бұрын
I will never understand why my people fight so hard to be in spaces they are not wanted in... But also, I do feel like Beyonce should have put a bit more into her country album - it was very shallow, she doesn't deserve an award because she came out with an album, it was just Beyonce with some country elements but I wouldn't call it a country album. Idk we all have to keep pushing, who cares - just keep moving forward, I push her to do it again as many times as it takes until it is right.
