Nothing against Nirvana, but I really wish someone would do an interview with Jack about Skin Yard. Almost every time someone interviews him it's about recording Bleach or what working with Kurt was like. Skin Yard themselves were a really unique and fairly prominent Seattle band. Ben McMillan was a very different frontman than the others and Jack's own guitar playing is memorable. They also had a killer bass player in Daniel House as well as some great drummers like Matt Cameron and Barrett Martin. Their discography is admittedly spotty but the best stuff is worth a listen. At this point I feel pretty familiar with Nirvana, Melvins, Tad, Soundgarden, AIC, Andrew Wood, etc. I think Skin Yard need their due.

Their first album is one of my favorites. One of the most unique grunge albums. Id also recc Bundle of Hiss. Their songs were lost until Endino found em and released em. They sound kinda like SG imo. Tad Doyle played guitar for them briefly before he made Tad. Id also like to see Mudhoney/Green River/Mark Arm get their dues

Yeah - music was in such a crappy place at the time. My friends and I were in a band - we called our style "dirty" since grunge wasn't invented yet. After all that Seattle stuff started coming out and the Jesus Lizard, it felt like coming alive again. And then Bleach came out. I think I played that album for like 3 months straight - it made me want to punch holes in walls and kick down doors.

He recorded a legendary demo tape in early 1988, featuring Dale Crover helping out on drums, and featuring many of the songs that would end up on Bleach or Incesticide. This tape soon found its way into Jonathon Poneman's hands. Poneman ran the Sup Pop label with Bruce Pavitt. The rest was history.

Singing while playing anything is extremely difficult! It's just another thing one has to take a little time and learn, just as if you were learning new chords, but imho a little more difficult. I do think Kurt had the talent to master things like this a little quicker than your average Joe. Nothing like natural talent! And he definitely had that.

I remember the first time I heard Nirvana was Love Buzz while I was working at a record shop and I was just like "meh". I came to like it but I always felt it was a weaker song, overall. Though I was into all the other grunge bands at the time, it took me a few songs to warm up to Nirvana...and then they ended up becoming my favorite band for a few years. Honestly, listening to live and rough cuts grabbed me more than the studio stuff initially. Just felt that energy that i loved.

I always thought that too but apparently he was just credited as a second guitarist on the album as a thankyou for funding Bleach. He didn't actually play on the album though. He did play live with them a couple of times. He was in Soundgarden for a short time too.

Jack Engine, the english language is not property of you!!!!! Language is to social use , public. I am singer and composer and I always heard rock even 60'. And naturaly I love rock and my compositions are written in english . It is a question of taste and style.I like hear rock in english. As the drummer part of Nirvana, Chad didnt want to change his style of drumming so he was kicked out, i predict he was on Bleach because band need consistentcy as Endino say, otherwise Chad wouldn't be a min. in Nirvana, Kurt didnt like his drumming style. Andfrom that point he dont deserve to be inducted, he didnt even drummed whole Bleach...

Chad was a good drummer. Perhaps not the greatest drummer out there but certainly a fantastic drummer. There is no way he would've done bleach or even toured with nirvana if he wasn't any good.

@@etherealcatholic5711 basically, when Kurt made the Sliver single in 1990. He was telling the music world that he's going pop/punk. Chad basically wasn't down with the style the band was heading, and Kurt was frustrated with Chad's drumming, so they essentially mutually parted ways. Chad came to see Nirvana in 1990 and met Dave, liked him a lot, and said he hungout with them that night and they were all friends still. Chad and Kurt/Krist never had beef after he left the band.

Nothing mutual. Whatd you guys guess and on the details and pick a way that is all feel goody for everyone involved. Kurt said it felt like killing someone but did what had to be done. On a ferry ride that took chad back to his home they said sorry thank you your out. Chads fine, a bit of a light hitter and sloppy to a point where it is detrimental to the tune as he would often go way off beat. Most of their coolest drum parts early on actually were dreamed up by kurdt or dale crover. Buzz of the.melvins was the gonetween to dave and nirvana as melvins played with scream and it was known scream was breaking up. Dave is like dale a top - whatever all time drummer. You cant pass up an opportunity to have an all time great join you duh. On sliver dan peters did fine work. I cant imagine chad playing as zippy and tight as he did in the song and dave probably would not have apprpached the snappy drum rolls and quick fills with the modesty dan did. I m not tryjng to make thjs a.dump on chad post but they would aay thinga in the sthdio post bleach sessions like " drums suck, drum sound not top 40. Wussy drum sound going on man y k u cant hit harder? Whats up? Wussy drum sound". The writing as they say was on the wall
