Coming from Europe, it is so fascinating to see how the houses are structured in Canada and which features they have (bedrooms in the basement, heated garage😮 ). So curious to follow the journey on the renovations.

Straw Berry I live in a 1500sqft 3 bed 2 bath home. Roughly the same sqft of theirs. My electric bill is roughly $100 a month keeping my air at 67 in the summer and 73-74 in the winter. My gas bill is roughly $30 a month and my water bill is accumulated every three months and is about $50 a month. $180 for all three bills at the same sq footage. I’m in the US so I don’t know how Canada works, but if those three bills of your are half your salary I would look for leaks and you bills to make sure you’re only using your power. I should also add I’m a family of 4 plus 3 dogs.
@shwacp08094 жыл бұрын
Straw Berry it really depends on where you live in Canada. It varies DRASTICALLY. Closer to the bigger cities (Toronto, Vancouver..) it’s extremely expensive. I live about an hour outside of Toronto and the cost of living is very expensive, especially compared to the average income. More rural areas are usually more affordable. Canada is such a massive place, it’s really impossible to lump it all together 🤷♀️

Hey Delilah, if you want to put a garden in next year I highly recommend you rip all the stuff out and get your soil prepped (and then mulched) before your ground freezes. That way you can get started as early as possible in the spring! Because you have such a short growing season you really don’t want to eat up precious time getting the garden ready! You can throw raked leaves over the soil to protect it over the winter AND it will compost and add lots of good organic material to the soil to enrich it in the spring :) just turn it into the soil when the ground thaws!! Good luck💗 the house is beautiful!!!

Your so blessed to have such a gorgeous home. You could use the kid's favorite place downstairs as the playroom for now and use the upstairs room as your dining room instead of their playroom. There you can have your dining room. Just a beautiful home, so happy for you all. God bless hun, and enjoy the renovations.
@Ambzx4 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would use the “playroom” in the beginning as the dining room and then the little “dining room” in the kitchen as a little playroom. Because the kids can be around you playing while you cook. I remember that I never used my playroom as a kid and always brought my toys to where my mom was “busy” so I could have her company.

I don’t think that will fly. With kids as young as theirs, they really need to be on the same level as a parent. They have a lower level playroom in their current house and they often lament that they can’t keep all the toys upstairs where they’d get more use.

It is so important, it is so, so tragically common for young children to drown in home swimming pools, and a waterslide adds another very significant element of risk. So please please please consider getting a fence around the pool!!

Not just Australia! But in Canada it’s often a municipal issue. The city I live in requires a fence around pools. But it may be that where she is in SK does not. If I was them, I’d install one ASAP. Or, they could add a fence and gate for that little side yard behind the pool house and that would be one safe place they could leave the kids for a minute if they needed to run into the house. Similarly, they could put railings and gate on the deck to enclose it, too.
