Higaonna Sensei taught over a 1000 students a day in Japan. His dojo was very large. His Gasshuku or seminars had so many people training you thought 💭 it was a rock concert instead of highly self respecting men and women of Budo.

In theory, that stance is supposed to stop the kick from reaching the groin. Don't know if it really works, though.

Yes, in theory , it would prevent a lifting front kick, especially kicking with the instep. But in reality, a straight on front thrust kick will still hit your groin, especially with shoes on.

I know sanchin kata. Honchi at my dojo makes us do it every lesson because of what this honchi said too. (Honchi Is what level black belt they are, but I'm not sure Japan has the same levels like America, so I thought he might be honchi. Honchi equals to 9th degree black belt).

@@samueldickenson2062 that's because you have never been exposed to iron palm..iron bar ..iron broom..skills that make it work..in the beginning of the UFC some practitioners of these skills did a demonstration of iron palm thinking it would surely get them in the UFC..after a brick breaking demo they told them the UFC is for entertainment were not trying to kill anybody and wouldn't let them fight

I find it hard to believe that after all these years of combat sports, no one has picked it up and implemented it into their MMA training. I like traditional MA, don't get me wrong but Kung Fu schools where people have acomplete knowledge of the style and how to apply it, and include pressure testing in their training are very rare in places I have lived, whereas the Karate revival community is a lot stronger from what I have experienced.

@samueldickenson2062 most lung fu schools I think are like the majority of karate schools ..watered down for the people that won't come back after a hard workout or conditioning ..but there are skills that are very valuable in kung fu that other systems just don't have..for instance karate has breaking but #1 they cheat with the use of spacers and they all screw up their hands because they don't use herbs to heal through the training and when breaking..iron skills usually are not taught these days ..its out there to learn tho

This is shime testing. You're supposed to be tense and able to withstand any blow. The kick to the nuts is to make sure the legs aren't too far apart that the kick lands -you should hit thigh, not sack.
