To conserve power setup a custom switch to turn off your hover engines when you park (the thruster switch doesn't effect the hovers), when I use hovercraft I always do this and also have the thrusters controlled by it as well

That is true and works but I think on the green engines it is like turning the thrusters off so it will drift, though I have not tested that recently

Killing predators will help with rep inside talon territory

Yes, for predators but passive creatures will hurt your rep so I go outside the area for that
