I'm just flabbergasted that they didn't even bother to turorialize any of the new mechanics, they ask you to spend 15 minutes reading through a wiki to even start playing. My only hope to begin playing this game again (after 2k hours) is that this infusion of cash will help them fix the deplorable state of the first person gameplay. Maybe even hire a guy who spends a week or two redrawing every single hit box and collision box in the game so the combat doesn't feel like complete nonsense. 😕 After all these years, there just hasn't been anywhere near enough progress on core gameplay to keep playing. Somehow I still find myself checking out all your new series, Spanj. Keep up the great content, regardless of the game you play. (Also, Darkness Falls is up to date, and it's been way too long since we saw a good 7DTD series from you!)

I don't think every block needs new collision models, but every deco block certainly does. It's infuriating because I know how to do it, there's a fine balance between keeping things fair to shoot around and possibly through while also bearing in mind game performance from how many objects are put onto the CPU.

Spanj summed up the reason why I haven't bothered buying it. I do not support companies who do not released FINISHED content.... I mean, this is their FIRST DLC.... and its bug infested and not properly tested. The FIRST DLC..... a testiment in my opinion the lack of quality we're going to get going forward. Lets give you vehicle weapons and devices, but you cannot use them because the Dark Field concept will prevent it...... a standard games tester would discover this before release to the general public, if they bothered to hire one to test their crap..... but like most games developers today, they expect YOU the customer to playtest this crap for them and as long as they have this attitude, I won't be buying their crap.

The DLC is in a "First Draft" state, just like the rest of Empyrion. Maybe they should finish something instead of releasing more half built scenarios.

If put a core in the Infected ships, and set the multitool to retrieve blocks you actually get Simelite from the ship blocks! All though when set on salvage you get nothing.

After dealing with the frigate went over to the Vanguard wreck and made a core and placed it, there are a couple of Tool Turrets retrieved them with multi tool and put them on the Elysia constructing a harvest controller to replace one of the cargo controllers is needed. There are at least 8 Large thrusters as well as missile and plasma turrets you can retrieve. You can upgrade thrusters right away.

Knowing this team for years and the current state of the main game... I think that this is a mostly finalized experience. They have a good backbone over the years, but man... they need some good (not great, at least good) game designer with good UX knowledge to polish this pile of mechanics. Like make some sense out of explosives for infiltration, disable the ability of anti-CV auto-aiming rockets to track on-foot players, make actual levels and CPU limits for Zirax and other factions so they do not blast you from bazillion cannons on second location, REPLACE chewing SFX on shorter and quite version for god sake, etc. I tried to bring new players into this game and all was fine when we needed to survive, get oxygen, build base, scavenge forgotten POI, and then heal our asses from parasites... but when things come with Zirax or other factions - the game drops and flops into an unplayable mess. Heavy turrets that can shoot your ass from render distance, auto-aim rockets that just an insta death sentence for everything without a shield, infinite fuel, infinite CPU, loads of defense systems like this POI must be taken by a whole armada of heavy ships, and huge shields that work from inside too. You need to cheat to win or waste time to grind and build a special CV ship just to blast everything in a few hits - this kinda breaks the flow with such spike.

another great episode. I you really want to steal everything, you can put that multi T2 in the shuttle box and already process some of the ores into bars and craft a core next to the defabricator. Also get the fuel and O2 out of the ship and put into shutlle. After self-explode you can hide the shuttle in the destroyed hull and salvage all those big thrusters and multiturrets. But that will get you an invaded Zirax HQ, cause it takes some time.

I agree the Dark Faction spreads too Fast. By the time I gathered enough resources for my journey to fight them they overtook the Talon and Zirax. I had a heck of a time lol

So, judging by your off-hand comments, this DLC has as many or more bugs and EGS? Shame, I was hoping for some justification to buy it just to help out the developers, but geez, they can't even get the bugs out of the DLC? What a shame. Also, don't know what new stuff you tried in this episode - it seems just a good as all your other episodes. Please keep them coming!

To be honest Spanj, I only have two criticisms of the DLC - the galaxy takeover timer is way too fast and really shouldn't start until you've been to the three homeworlds, and there's too little explanation of what is happening, or why, when the scenario tells you to go here go there. Looking forward to watching this series.

Well the main game is in a similar state. While i see the reason in pushing out content on a DLC base, this is a completely different realm as what Empyrion was before. A DLC need a certain quality standard, and this usually need a lot testing as well. I'd suggest a small base of dedicated streamer like Spanj or other Empyrion nerds to get rid of game stopping bugs at least before trying to sell a product that will most likely end up with a refund. Even a donation model would probably preferable over a paid DLC, if the state of the DLC do not fit industrial standards. Star citizen is doing well just with donations. Uh and selling ships ridiculous overpriced. Not that i'd recommend THIS kind of raising money. Just my thoughts.

Should almost have a little mining HV or SV given to you at the start like the CV and Explorer are. I mean you are exploring a galaxy or doing research how else would you get resources. This dlc has some great potential. Just need to fix some things and more info on how and what you need to do I think would be helpful and slow down the spread.

mmh maybe they could tie the Dark faction progression speed into your Standard points -- so starts very very slow but as you kill stuff and gain research points and the ability to create advanced blueprints it gets faster -- would tie in better with player personal speed then.

Once you found the core in that frigate, I'd have blown it with the Elysias guns. Might be worth seeing if you can salvage symellite from the blocks. Could give you a head start in the research tree.

@@Spanj Using "Retrieve" (Not salvage) on a symelite block or symelite deco block yields 1 raw symelite. I blew the cores on the transports and frigate but still couldn't salvage them ("Remove foreign core" still) but was able to slap a core on the Vanguard and do it a bit there (as well as grabbing or salvaging a bunch of expensive turrets and other modules). But it pales into insignificance compared to using a T2 multitool to salvage some of the surplus Symelite Armour blocks on the Elysia, which yield 20 processed symelite each 😄.

tbh vehicle based mining is pointless in vanilla the hand drill is fast enough, the HV drill turret is boss though iirc

You'd be surprised, I recently built a starter HV with mining drills and it works really well on meteorites, so I've had that HV on Skillon to obtain promethium early and quickly.

I would bet the stuff still being there is a feature not a bug. after all its a flash back so you putting it in there happened in the past, the only reason it wouldn't be there is if someone took it all out in the story.

Same comment as before -- has anyone found out how to Build Dark faction ships in creative yet (couldnt find any of the blocks but may of missed tham) -- would love if the dark faction tool allowed block upgrade to Equivalent cellulite ones (but havent got there yet so might? be possible)

What does filling the strip around the red square at the top of the screen mean? In my game, I am still on the starting planet, carried away by survival and development, I am in no hurry, and this strip made a full circle. And nothing happened. Weird.

Awesome video on an interesting DLC. Out of curiosity, what happens if you go for that tower structure (whatever it is called) on the first planet? Does it even exist? I understand that POI is difficult, but as far as I can see, the scenario is not hardcore or ironman mode and you have unlimited lives. Do game mechanics exist to prevent a blitz on the tower until X, Y, and Z are completed first? Does that end the scenario or stop or slow down the spread? Just wondering if anyone had tried that and what happened.

There is a tower structure on the starting planet. And if you get closer, you can read a small message that the occupation of the planet begins and ends with this structure. It may be necessary to destroy this spire, but I was not ready, read the message and flew away.

Dear Spanj, I'm sorry, but even knowing you make a living from this videos I can't make myself watch this. I'd rather watch a five hour live stream of the chaos team sitting in front of a wall watching paint dry. Seriously. I've been a software developer myself for the last 4 decades and this "DLC" makes me want to apologize to all the people who think this is what software developers deliver! I'm ashamed that they make you pretend to have fun with this piece of garbage just to deliver empyrion content to your audience. Please keep up the good work. I will gladly watch every content you put out there apart from Empyrion. It's dead to me.

Sorry you feel that way, but this really is the nature of the games industry for over a decade now- nickle and dime the consumers, release unfinished content, ignore QA departments, mark bugs as features, and have marketing quash criticisms against the product by any means necessary. That last one is becoming even more prevalent with the deletion of critical reviews on various websites while also spamming positive reviews.

As interesting as all this new (paid) content is, it really looks like a pre-beta, slapped-together cash-grab for a game that still feels like a pre-beta, slapped-together game. Reading a wiki FAQ instead of adding lore into the game? That's just lazy. It's almost as if the devs saw the success of the player-based add-ons (Reforged Eden, Star Salvage, etc.) and thought to themselves, "Hey, we should do that, but charge MONEY for it!!" To which someone probably replied, "but shouldn't we actually make the base, vanilla game better before we start charging actual money for new content?" and that person was promptly fired while the rest of the devs headed towards an ATM to see how much money they made from suckering players into buying it on release day. I can only hope that the revenue generated from this will go toward actual base game development instead of cases of beer and cocaine. Time will tell...

It is really annoying, I had a 10-20 hour save ruined because I did stuff in a non linear order. I had to quit after that because I've felt like there is no point. 3 months after that I wanna play again 😅 But I won't get any DLC stuff as long as the base game is in this state...

I've been playing "space" themed games for years and one thing I know for sure,Empyrion Galact Survival is the best of all of them...Space Engineers lacks emotion,fights,challenges,things to do..the recently created Starfield is just "empty" world that makes you feels like you're the only survivor and when you gets old you'll die and everything gonna be in vain,with beautiful graphics....No Man's Sky graphics are weird,you're limited a lot about world interaction,not much to say about it,just worse than Space Engineers....and lots of others Indie space themed games that I'll not even bother mentioning....I play lots of different games,RPG,Horror,survival, MMO,FPS,TPS,for sure Empyrion Galact Survival is the best space themed game ever,in my opinion the only thing missing is about optimization,some details should be removed,some details should be added,but like I said ,it's the best of all of them so anyone that likes to play spaced themed games just need to accept and play as it is at the moment,no better choices anyways...

Alert Spanj Caution!!! If you scavenge all the piping on CV you will get 20 processed symelite* per block. if you get all the piping from 2 engine rooms and the warp room you willl have over 2000 processed symelite. This will get you all the research points to max out tree with some left over. Spanj sorry to get rid of piping, but desperate times and all that. hehe

Je suis rassuré.... on est d'accord que le dlc manque de finition ? J'ai passer pratiquement 2h à essayer de detruire un dark pillard, et la galaxy à pris 15÷ , à se rythme la c'est mort . Surtout que les POI on des core admin donc impossible de passer dessous... Il manque de beaucoup de choses je trouve . On nous donne tout d'un coup au debut c'est a dire vaisseau (pas tres optimiser mais bon) des munitions infini etc. De plus comme toi j'ai lancé ma première partie et le sv disparu dans le hangar 😮 bon...

Must admit i'd be tempted to use single player magic to delete the given SV and give myself the resources ---- i'm not too much a fan of the given ship as i'm just not used to navigating that size of ship, and would prefer some standard progression before the dark faction get too big (hence the tie to research points concept )

I had the ship vanish on me at the beginning once before as well. It wasn't due to your trick of cargo manipulation. I didn't even know u was going to get the ship so I thought it was just something you had to overcome. Yeah, Eva down to the planet was not the right choice. Lol
