Jack Ganley There’s people who abuse their authority in every single job out there. Worked at McDonalds when I was in my teenage years and my Manager used to scream at people if they grabbed their order 30 seconds late from when their number was called. Half of it isn’t even abusing their authority, they literally just don’t even have the authority to do that and they think they’re in power of stuff their not.

I miss being a skipatrol. I worked at a small hill in ontario. I was the only professional patroller ever in espanola. And the very first to pass the toboggan testing on a snowboard in ontario. My hardest rescue was myself. Only patroller on duty and a marker m46 binding broke and i lost my ski and broke my femur. I had to train people to the to load me and get me down. . Im a logging truck driver now days so time is very limited but if someone ever needs help im in. The canadian skipatrol has my respect.

I live in a resort town and my dad and I both work on the mountain, he does ski patrol and I bartend. As weird as that sounds, having both roles in such a close relationship helps a lot. If there's an accident I can tell him how many any parties involved have had, and I know the full gravity of what can happen on the runs and when to cut someone off. Also there's no one I enjoy riding with more, we've both been doing it our whole lives and even at his age he shows me up in ways I'd never expect. He's a great dude and I love him a lot 🖤

I broke my arm on an Olympic sized halfpipe (21 or 22ft) at Copper Mountain, CO. This freaking legend rode his snowmobile ON THE HALFPIPE. Their ski patrol uses snowmobiles and not skis, so I wasn't getting special treatment or anything. A skier would been just fine, so it's not like I was getting that when a person was super injured was only getting a person.

born and raised in a ski town in Colorado, ski patrol was THE job. our resort tested applicants by getting a senior patroller to lead a bunch of applicants up and down over the entire slope with no break in every terrain, everyone in town had a story about what score they got or how many hours they lasted for. while a lot of the calls were pretty stupid (speeder on a green, tourist got on a too-hard run and is now just refusing to move, stand at the bottom of a dangerous run and strip the season passes of speeders), but in real situations, ski patrol is incredible at what they do. mad respect.

Raymond Huke Don’t mate, it’s honestly quite safe if you aren’t a idiot. If it’s your first time, than likely the main danger is gonna be other people as you’ll probably stick to easier runs.

broke my clavicle once while riding my snow board, it hurt like hell but at least I got to ride a snowmobile the people were really nice and I had some nice memory's they even told me to come back again which I don't know how that benefits me but 10/10 experience.

It would be nice if my mountain cared that much, I’m not saying they don’t but it’s not as dedicated sometimes sadly

Low key though, the ski patrol on my local mountain are literally the most sendy crew on the mountain. There the ones you'll see doing back-flips off drops, in the back country section of our mtn.

I once broke my foot...I didn't feel it until the hospital because of the cold...and I said that I was fine to them but they kept me in the ambulance and the slidy bed until we came to the hospital...ever since that happened, I only ski on the blue slopes

2 months ago I fell on a double black diamond and hurt my leg, if the ski patrol weren't there with their sled I would've had to walk down and end up doing a lot more damage to my leg
