Sometime in 2017 the KZbin algorithm sent me a video of a high school band from Kyoto. My first thought was "wait!...how are these kids THIS talented?, THIS dedicated?. 8 years later I have watched hundreds (thousands?) of KTSHS band videos. Every year there is the sadness (and excitement) of the 3rd years moving on. What makes it a bit easier is the exciting entry of the new 1st years. Such consistent talent every year. Good luck and happiness to the 120 class!

Words cannot describe the emotions we saw from those kids 😢 There is a certain DNA in that school, it produces a special bond that makes it special. 3 years, 7AM to 7PM almost everyday, these graduating students will have a void to fill. But because they are bright and talented they will be successful in their futures. I hope that many will be able to continue to play music. Perhaps many of the graduates will be able to perform in the '25 Rose Parade. Special mention to the graduating lead drummer, the heart beat of the band, always on with little fanfare, providing the stong beat for all the members. He will be missed, as will be the excellent DM and Club President. Thank you for the memories. All the best in the future.😎

My sincere gratz to all the students of 120th class! To the class rep, to the DM pretty, and to all the class members! They did tremendous job going through all the trials and performing on the very high level during their whole SHS time. ^__^ I thinks the emotions are obvious at 2:20, the girl shows it - how it is to be suddenly separated from those you acknowledged as your closer-than-family during those 3 senior years. I have been following this band for several years. I had a few tears for the ending for the seniors, but I hope they will have a bright future. I hope they all never lose contact with each other. They are like family. I only wish I could have met all of them.

Hmm, some new choreography for "Winter Games" -- nice! Looking forward to seeing them at the Rose Parade! But, more important, if I were an employer, I would be eager to hire these grads. They volunteer for the opportunity to do hundreds of hours of VERY hard work, on top of their normal studies. They are motivated, focused, intelligent and enthusiastic, for no reward other than having been part of this with their friends -- imagine how those traits would be a plus for any company! I hope that they don't lose this spirit through college.

120th Graduation is so poignant. i really understand the hapiness that they felt in accomplishing a milestone in their young lives, but also the sadness of leaving behind a chapter in their young lives that was filled with enjoyment and sense of accomplishment. more power to you 120th KT we wish you happiness and luck in the new chapter of your lives that your are about to embark. we hope to see you again hopefully during the 2025 rose parade, hopefully most of you will be able to make it there then specially to 120th DM aoi, color guards and other familiar and well loved faces of the 120th.

I believe the graduating 120th has the honor of being the only class in Tachibana's illustrious history to win Marching Contest gold in all three of their years with the band. A feat never before accomplished. I think a lot of their accomplishment is due to having Mentapu as the marching coach. Does anyone agree with that?

Coach Mentapu deserves some credit as well as music director Keneshiro who helped refine the sound quality of the band after they took over. But the five 118th term senior class leaders deserve the most credit since they were the ones who made the bold major decision to cutdown on the difficult choreography the band was known for and concentrate instead on improving the sound quality. If you are not aware, the student leaders themselves design all the choreography and not the coaches or the music director. They realized that the sound was more important to the all-Japan marching contest judges than the dancing, thus, decided on the change. As we all know, difficult choreography could lead to mistakes and one simple error could destroy their chances of winning. There were no pushbacks since the five leaders were already good friends and came to KT from the same junior high school. A lot of fans didn't like the change saying the band is not as exciting as before but I don't mind it. Winning the gold is the ultimate dream of these students and I totally support them.

I have read all the comments of congratulations from around the world and their own people of Japan. Do we know if the kids get to see this? It would mean a lot to the followers of the band, knowing that they are aware that their efforts are being enjoyed all over the world. Now it must seem strange to a school that its school orchestra/band members have what can only be described as international stardom. We respect their privacy and protection from any interference in their lives, but a few words from a staff member on their behalf would be a welcome addition 🙏

Of course, kt is the best. I will miss the graduating DM and Club President. The lead drummer must be mentioned...always on the beat..the heart beat of the band. The graduating sousaphone player always added to the group and the young man who played sax and was featured in this video will do very well. 京都橘には昔からマーチング用は青色とオレンジ色の２種類のユニフォームがあります😊 近年は主催者の要望でオレンジ色のユニフォームを着用することが多いです😅 オレンジデビルズのイメージが強いんでしょうね😂 ちなみに白ジャケットと黒パンツは座奏用です😊
