Phil fascinates me. Even with all the darkness he seems to surround himself with and with what he has been through in his life, and the addictions, struggles, what he has sang about, I find a lot of light and hope in him. Perhaps this is what has given him the strength to continue in his life. There is almost something Biblical about him in the sense he represents and has lived through and with, the struggle and battle between opposing forces. He seems to always come through. I love most of the music he has been involved with, especially Pantera and Down and now this. Brilliant!

Couldn't agree more. I'm so happy that he's survived this far, to bless us with his wisdom and age. I often imagine what kind of music others would have made later in their career.. Kurt Cobain, Jeff Buckley, to name a couple. To see Phil at this point in his life is a blessing.

@jjp_nl 3 жыл бұрын
@@voteZDLR Sure thing! Come to think of it, I feel there are some interesting possibilities here when it comes to the types of venues/festivals they could make an appearance in/on with this project. Not the typical heavy metal blood sweat n beers type of deal, nor typical ‘jazz act’.
@voteZDLR
@voteZDLR 3 жыл бұрын
@@jjp_nl Yeah well Jazz Fest surprisingly has less Jazz acts than it does other kinds of music nowadays, the fact it's still called Jazz Fest is a formality. They have like indie rock, rock and roll, pop music, HIP HOP, R&B etc. It's maybe the most diverse music festival in America. And I can see him fitting in quite nicely at Gentilly Stage even though it's a smaller stage than Anselmo is used to performing on. This is a different kind of music though.

Imagine the band that put your name on the map ended too soon by mistake and before you know it half the band is dead and you are still a young guy. Phil was supposed to be the crazy one- however he got over his problems is amazing. Very few can escape the shadow of serious back damage and an addiction to pain relievers- maybe 1 out of ever 10 people will ever go back to a normal life. I am sure the past haunts everyone- but this guy is made of something much stronger than most. If you have never had a bad injury it might be hard to understand how much strength this guy has. And I mean inside, in his heart. He has overcome obstacles the size of mountains to get where he is now. If he can stay on this path the rest of his life will be easy. That will be another struggle though. I hurt my back in car accidents in my early 20’s took all the youth right out of me. The pain never goes away-it’s wether we learn to live with it or not. And the fight doesn’t end when you are better, things can fall apart in an instant. You might be better for a decade than succumb to weakness. It will never be that easy for Phil to smile- I can relate and that’s what really sucks the most. Being a singer in a metal band puts your body through hell. Head banging alone can mess up your neck and spine real good for life. Somebody should have warned us.

Been a fan of Phil's singing voice since the 90s, "Suicidal Notes Pt 1" and "Where I'm going" are among my all-time favorites and I have waited years for the release of that infamous "Acoustic EP" of Down which apparently will never the see the light of the day. A bit sad that Phil never before had enough confidence to sing "naked" (you can see it at the beginning before entering the stage that it's still not easy for him). Now the En Minor debut spins nonstop since its release and it's fantastic! Great Job PHA!

The unkind flesh....love it ! Has a slight Peter Green vibe going on and yet still original and timeless..En Minor is a breath of fresh air....the more I hear, the more I enjoy it. Solid! The intro does remind me of 'just for you' by greeny but then it just becomes it's own entity.

(b4 you comment, yes i knew already) Its official, Phil is true musician spanning multiple genres of music. IMO this is some of Phils best work. i love heavy, but soft dark spiritual is right up there too.

It's beautiful¡ Brilliant¡ It´s nice to see Phil like this, like if he were in a transition of his life to hardcore to kind of an spiritual life and it's good for him.

Russian "basso profondo" choir singers make Phil sound like Rob Halford. Whenever you have the chance, attend a concert by those folks. I swear it'll feel like an earthquake.
