Because the idea of the project was to gather other vocalists with Phil. It got really cool in my humble opinion. And yes, Phil sounds amazing. I hope he performs this track on his next tour or record a whole tribute to Lemmy/Motörhead. That would be great

I’ve always been a moderate pantera fan. In 2018 I knew nothing about the members. When I heard Phil and the Illegals play/somewhat cover cemetery gates at the louder than life fest, I was super impressed with the vocal quality. Phil has an amazing range of tones.

No, his voice box is blown. But even with his new voice, he gave us “Caught Up in Gears of Application” and I though he sounded amazing. Unfortunately age and singing over a hundred thousand times will make your voice go. I still love him.

@@1Deep43VA Agreed. It seems like in 2016 he lost his higher range, like on caught up in the gears of application. I wacthed an interview with loudwire where he said that they had already done the album before 2016, so 2015 and 2016 must have been the last years where he had that higher range he had before. There was also a change around 2012, when he sung live it was not the best compared to a couple of years prior but right now it sounds like he has gotten his screams back while touring with the pantera celebration. I hope he records something with his current voice.
