Yeah. Same with Hololive in general too IMO. I wish we could get away from this idea that they're streaming for the relationship or sexual tease that tends to be a part of idol culture. It's not like the audience has a chance of being with them in the first place. We should just enjoy their content like any other youtuber rather than be hooked on this idea that they're waifu's or husbando's.

I think this is the management's fault, they brand the holostars like the perfect boy's idol band, and this scared many male viewers away. I mean, they do the whole white day, perfect prince play, but they are also chaotic, funny and really talented. Personally i really enjoy Oga's free talk streams and his collabs with the girls. I am sure that a lot of people see him like the perfect husbando, but i follow him because he sounds like a cool guy to hang out.

I mean the theme and “business” side is leaning towards idol stuff i.e., concerts, conventions, and merch… so its not wrong to be marketed that way. Its toxic masculinity and preference of the majority for “cute anime girls” that’s causing this rift. Holostars can’t escape their brand and suddenly be like Nijisanji, even Hololive gives idol crumbs. It is no one’s fault because in these types of things, luck is a big factor. I’m not discrediting their hard work because they deserve their success and way more but we can’t deny that the pandemic boosted Hololive’s popularity due to a majority of us being locked down, discovered the world of vtubers in which Hololive was the forefront of (globally). Shinove-san and Yagoo are working hard with they boys and its working albeit slowly, so lets not antagonize the brand and management and instead support them and spread the word.

@@mellamojeff458 i mean even if they were marketed mostly for female audience they could still be incredibly popular, especially in Japan. People really really underestimate women and their hobbies despite being proven times and times again that the stuff they are into become insanely popular. Holostars were just not promoted at all and quite neglected. You cant rly get audience without exposure and holostars suffered from a lot of setbacks from haters from hololive fandom as well.

I kinda get the point since a few times the streams seem a bit geared towards girls, but I don't think it's weird to watch Holostars as a guy. It's not weird to watch real streamers or a soccer match either, isn't it?

I think here in the west we are more accustomed to watching streamers of either gender, but generally with idol stuff it's usually geared toward the opposite gender of said group (ie: boy bands like SMAP or Arashi cater to girls, idol groups like AKB48 cater to boys). I'm personally not a huge fan of idol culture but I enjoy Hololive/Holostars' either way as I think of them less as idols and more as streamers/content creators.

Ooh, I’ve been meaning to watch this one. I always knew there were a ton of JP bros in Son’s chat, but it’s really interesting to see confirmed that in there are a bunch of JP bros in Ouga’s as well. Holostars just give off that vibe of hot dudes who naturally attract girls and aren’t afraid to have fun with that part of themselves, but spend most of their time hanging out and being themselves. Despite technically being idols, it gives off a genuine feel to their streams that you don’t see very often even with Western streamers. There’s very little posturing imo-just dudes being dudes-and as a viewer I find that a real good time.

People who think one's gender makes someone's interests weird in 2021 are people I don't wanna be around LOL... it doesn't matter if you "just like watching as a bro" or if you're hella gay for them, you shouldn't have to justify it to anyone. Some of these comments are kinda weird implying that "it's fine because i only think of them as bros" etc as if it wouldn't be if they were actually attracted to them as guys... do we seriously still need to teach people that being gay isn't a bad thing?? I'm bi and I love watching both hololive and holostars for both their wonderful personalities and because I have a massive bi crush on so many of them..... Honestly imma just put it out there I myself am gay and I checked out holostars due to them being hot and I was hoping for some fanservice but I ended up staying cause of how fucking chaotic they are and how it feels so comforting watching their streams like I can’t explain it seems I’ve stayed for their personality and ways of entertainment rather than their like male idol intentions and ngl the few fanservicey things they do I just ignore at this point I just seek the memey content🤣

I love the girls but I relate so much with the guys on a personal level. They're bombastic, they're charismatic and they are homies. Also, they persevered and now have new kohai to collab with and it makes me extremely excited to see the EN and ID branches of Holostars and see even more chaos when they do have the EN and ID branches where they collab in Gartic Phone, Among Us and other games that can support tons of players.

I think many people watch streamers they personally would love to be friends with no matter the gender of the person watching. At least that's how I look at it. As a girl myself, I watch many hololive streamers because it feels like I'm hanging out with a friend. Just enjoy what you enjoy as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. If someone's bothered by it, sounds like a personal problem.

I'm a girl.I'm a fan of both Hololive and holostars! At first I found Hololive songs, they were so catchy! I got blended into the fandom quickly! Theirs contents are also pretty good! I saw some Hololive fans saying like only a guy will watch this or that. Please really stop that! One of my classmate literally called me gay just because I watch and listen to hololive.its so annoying(and I wanna shout that being gay or bi dosent relate to this) . I genuinely likes j pop and japanese music..what I'm saying is respect the other party's interest or hobbies...I hope you get my point..Hololive and HOLOSTAR'S are both jewels! I'm one of the guys who thought Holostars was geared towards women more. I think I really got exposed to Holostar during the Among Us collab and Oga specifically through his collab with Fubuki which made me look into them more. In that regard, it kinda feels like Holostar is a bit of a niche *within* the Hololive VTuber niche, which is a bit of a shame IMO. Like, I don't doubt that there are people whose first experience with VTubing is with Holostars. Statistically speaking, there must be some. However, I would be sad to discover if it was happening fewer times than with Hololive (be it because of the male idols or simply that Hololive is more mainstream). While I don't really watch Nijisanji, I did read that they were a mixed group from the start so I hope that their male members are as popular as their female members.
