What am I doing wrong? every time I try to do anything on a loom, my stitches are so tight! You have loose stitches, and a very good hand on your "fabric". Love this pattern. Thanks!

Hi Linda :) It just takes practice on how to get your tension just right. As you do more you will feel how much to pull (and not pull) the yarn. Just try to concentrate on not pulling the working yarn so tightly as you knit. You can also use the knitting tool to pull a little slack into your stitches as they form. I hope these tips help! :) Bethany~

I guess that 'with yarn in front stitch' has always confused me. So the front of the item is on the inside of the loom or away from you? I love this stitch. Cant wait to use it to make some pot holders. Thanks for sharing. Take care :)

Yes, the front of the work is seen when you look behind or under the pegs...the back is what you see when you look down through the center of the loom. So, imagine if you were knitting a long scarf...you would be able to see the front of the stitches by holding the loom up to see the project hanging down from it. You would need to turn the loom around to see the back of the stitches. (Or look down through the tube if it was being knitted in the round.) ;)

What a gorgeous stitch! Am I correct that you are not slipping the first and last anchor stitch of each row but you knit them?

What loom are you using? Can I use the Martha Stewart loom?

Although you can use this stitch on pretty much any loom, the loom used in this video is our versatile Hat Loom. You can find it here: www.knittingboard.com/hat-loom/

I am a little confused, I just bought a loom and the instructions says what your calling a knit stitch is a flat stitch..... are my instructions misprinted?
@GettinItPegged7 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeanne :) No, this is not a misprint. ;) The one listed in your instructions as a knit stitch is the "true knit stitch" or "reverse purl". What I am doing is actually called a U-stitch, which is wrapped around the peg in the shape of the letter U, then knit off. A flat stitch is when you simply lay the yarn across the front of a peg and knit off. This method can end up being way too tight and short for a lot of purposes, and the true knit stitch can be tiring on one's hands, so my personal favorite is the U-stitch, which creates a happy medium between the other two. Read this article to find out more info about all the different knit stitches: blog.knittingboard.com/archives/2543
