I have a brother kh 950. can i transfer the punchcard pattern on to mylars instead and have it turn out the same?

No. The electronic machines work differently, and there are different patterns for them. The row changes work differently.

Hi Diana I bought your book - Here on your vidéo I see it is necessary to turn off card needle function on the main carriage... I have a KH820 so I cannot turn off card needle function on its main carriage (pink buttons do not exist on it) ... I just can do it on the lace carriage since I have a KH910 lace carriage with these pink buttons. Will it work this way ?

The 820 didn't have automatic end needle selection. That's why you always have to pull the end needles when you're doing tuck. The end needle selection, in others words, is always off.

Your main carriage has no end needle auto selection. So it's already off. The main thing with your machine is follow the punch card instructions and use the punch card charts in the back of the book - NOT the electronic charts! They are different.

There is a way to do this with Studio/Silver Reed machines with 24-stitch punch cards, if that's what you're referring to mentioning drums. I should make a video of that.

I think I understand why it won't work on a Studio machine, but Toyotas are very similar to Brothers when it comes to lace. Do you think this would be possible on a Toyota KS901?

I no longer own a Toyota 901, so I'm answering this from memory If I recall correctly, the punch cards for Brother work with the Toyota lace carriage if you turn them over left to right (not top to bottom). You would have to punch one and test it. This pattern requires the machine to work well with several out of work needles in a row at one edge. I found that my Silver Reed does not do well with those empty needles - it drops stitches. The Toyota is probably okay. Another weird thing about the punch card technique is that it only advances when the belt changes direction. That means when the main carriage goes to the right out of work and then the lace carriage comes on the bed, they both select from the same row of the card.

Yes. For the 940, use the patterns in the book by the photos. You do not need the patterns in the appendix, which have been changed to accommodate punch card machines.
