I hated the random tree and anime enemies in the final boss fight like wtf???? It started pretty solid with the old enemies attacks but then it was too weird

I have a theory. The tree is what the book was made from, as paper is made from trees. The anime wizard kid, meanwhile, is the book's future - what it hopes to be. So the book conjures its past self and potential future self to fight the protagonists.
