I keep reviewing this video as it has saved my coffee grinder from the appliance graveyard and kept our coffee beans grinding away, every day! Thank you so much for this instructional video, Baratza should be happy for your help!

Great condensed video! Helpful especially for someone who doesn’t keep their instruction manual. Would recommend unplugging your electronics before dissembling just to be safe in case of faulty motor or electricity shortage. Never know if water is around, better be safe than sorry 🙂

The Encore is a very solid little grinder for the money. Of course it isn't quite as consistent as some of the better offerings at the finer settings, but I use a pressurized portafilter for espresso and the Encore works fine for that. It is perfect for drip or french press too.

For $140 I don't think you can find a better grinder. And Baratza sells all the parts so if anything breaks you can fix it. They even have a pretty decently priced repair program if you're not comfortable doing the work yourself. They even have video and or photographic guides documenting all the repair procedures on their site. They have the motto on their site, "Don't dump it, fix it". It's refreshing to see a company that builds a consumer product with repairs in mind rather than to be another throw-away device that'll end up in a landfill after a couple years of service.

Thanks so much. I took apart and cleaned, then was not grinding correctly.....your video and the red dot at 4:00 o'clock solved everything.

This was fantastic, thank you so much. One question (if you're still monitoring this video), will using the Grindz also help keep the chute clear? I just had to clean it because it was so clogged that it wouldn't grind. I was wondering if I still have to do this as well as the Grindz or would the Grindz help with that as well. Thank you again.
@SeattleCoffeeGear6 ай бұрын
Hello! Grindz should help with keeping the chute a little more clear of grounds that are stuck due to oil buildup. That said, you'll want to use a brush if you have static causing buildup in that area (which is often the case).

Oooof, I use my grinder daily, have never done this. i do not use any "oily" beans though. Gonna get grindz, never header of these either. There is a black rubber o-ring on the bottom burr @ 1:51 so suggested to remove and clean grove and re-install as well. Thanks, great video.

I'll give the grindz a try, I've noticed that my grinder stops/jams up requiring smack in he side to kick it on again. I took it apart as you described and that helped a bit, but I'm wondering if coffee has gotten under the burr that's fixed in the machine... hmmm?

Hi Gail: I love my Barbara. I followed your excellent direction on how to clean, but when it came time to reassemble it the top would not go in. I spent hrs trying to figure it out, but to no avail. I believe the way to put back the middle section may not be accurate, I did 4pm red dot alignment, but did not solve the problem. Please help! Should that middle section be loose??

sorry maybe I've misunderstood but it's really necessary to dismantle the grinder every day...?

Definitely not necessary to do this everyday! But it is good to do a deep clean every few months, along with more regular cleaning with Grindz every few week.

The product is Grindz from Urnex. They're supposedly better than rice, which according to Baratza's site can cause damage which they will not cover the repairs of under warranty. I'm guessing rice can be too hard for the burrs and the motor sometimes which can cause damage to gears or the burrs themselves. Grindz is made specifically for grinder cleaning so it's not hard enough to damage the grinder, and is made to be absorbent in order to clean the oils left by coffee.

How about the brush that comes with the Baratza? Is that not good to clean the burr?
@skyboy1234543217 жыл бұрын
brush removes coffee particles. The cleaning tablet remove accumulated oils which will go rancid if stucked in the machine for too long.

What would have been good to see was how much gunk was there before vacuuming, because a deal breaker for me is how much coffee is wasted by the burr grinders,for example, the capresso infinity retained so much coffee that it lost its appeal to me.

Why capful of Grindz ? When I had a class on home espresso I was told 5-10 pieces or until no grounds come with the Grindz. And it was demonstrated on the Rancilio Rocky doserless.
@SeattleCoffeeGear9 жыл бұрын
+Stefan Sigfinnsson Running more through the grinder won't hurt it. 5-10 pieces would probably get the job done, but we are just following the manufacture's instructions in this video.

@helpfulnatural8 жыл бұрын
Felicia Visser I have a video on my channel using rice to clean one of my coffee grinders. It's a different model than this one shown but the principle is the same. There are also several more videos on KZbin showing this same method.

can u give me the link of ur video ?bout using rice to clean the grinder?
@Platypi0074 жыл бұрын
Baratza claims that rice can cause mechanical damage to the grinder. They won't cover repairs for damage caused by running rice through the grinder and suggest using Grindz. I wasn't aware of this previously, but I can see how it would make a difference. If a hard piece of ricer were to cause strain on the gears you could strip them. Thankfully you can repair pretty much any problem with the Encore and Baratza sells all the parts you need.
