The first part of this medley, is from the great hymn "O sacred head, sore wounded", written in 1250 of Arnulf of Louvain. Same melody used when the German poet and priest Paul Gerhard in 1653 translated an re-wrote the hymn under the title "Befiehl du deine Wege". Beautifully rendered, to the glory of our heavenly Father!💖

I heard "O Sacred Head Now Wounded" a very old Christian hymn. I don't know about Paul Simon's song. I'll have to check it out.

Yes, anyone unfamiliar with it needs to check out the truly beautiful original (from the album "There goes Rhymin' Simon). Apart from the understandable absence of Paul's poignant lyrics, Tommy certainly does it justice.
