Thanks! I've been a long time fan of LJ and only found out about Tommy Emmanuel through this video a few months ago. As luck turns out, Tommy is touring in my home town in January 2017 so can't wait to see him. I do love this video- the effortlessness with which they play and their enthusiasm is inspiring

I’ve listened to this countless times over the years. No question that Lawrence’s chops are at least as good as Tommy’s. But I find Tommy’s solos are are better composed and fit the music better and more pleasing in general. Lawrence’s solos seem a bit too frenetic and desperate to impress. Same thing when I watch Tommy play with Joscho Stephan. Joscho is brilliant, but his solos are not as pleasing IMO.

The best instrumentals I've heard have been 2 guitars playing off each other, one playing harmony and the other melody, then switching roles. Doesn't matter the style, at all. Surf, blues, jazz, rock, it just works. Hint to players out there, nothing else acoustically sounds like this.

That's the thing with all production stuff, occasionally you get a "freak" one that everything just fit perfect! I worked in the G.M.Holdens car factory sometimes you'd get in a car & it was just freaky how much more power it had than others, this guitar I liken to that, it sounds great 'cause everything fit perfect, not just " within tolerance"!

True story: I own a Martin Laurence Juber model and one day I was at Guitar Center and to my amazement LJ was there in the acoustic room so I had to meet him. The nicest guy ever and when I told him “hey I own one of your guitars” he said “Well I want it back! “ Great moment and have a picture with him to boot - also if you’ve never seen Tommy play live you’re missing a lot. Two amazing musicians and yes, a tour would be incredible!!

juber is like some guitarist that just play too many notes. The melody, for a lot of folks, gets lost in the swarm of notes. There is no feeling..just a bunch of notes. Tommy can play fast when the song requires it, but doesn't play fast all the time.

Had the pleasure of sitting down and doing an impromptu jam with these two gentlemen (and Ritchie Sambora who was out after one tune) much like this. Tommy said. Man, that is a loud Martin, Lawrence, a Martin endorser, says "well, they're making em right these days" so I sez.. well, Tommy, you do have a soundhole plug (for controlling feedback) in your Maton mate (he and the other 2 were about to go on) probably should have kept that to myself

I definitely know what Tommy is saying about that Gibson guitar - had one in the 80’s ( it was Gibson’s answer to the Ovation , and I don’t know what happened, but they were obviously made by some really good luthiers , because they were magical guitars !! Mine , unfortunately was stolen around 92 , I believe ... someone just lifted it from the stage at a gig we were playing and walked out the door ... I think I cried ...

I know, I'm getting better at dealing with reality LOL!! That's essentially what it is. It's how do you respond when humility slaps you right in the grill? With Fingerstyle you can play for a long time. Maybe not with quite the speed and dexterity, but you can manage. Similar to golf, it's the game for lifetime.
