There are almost 80 languages in the solomons. Each tribe has their own language. The most common one is the pidgin, commonly used by locals to communicate

I used to speak pidgin as a kid living in Honiara in 1968-70. As there are so many local distinct languages. Went to St Johns school and them KG6. Laurie NZ. 😊

I feel bad for that taxi driver 😂. He's from the Maramasike region, at the southern end of Malaita. They speak variations of the "Are'are and Sa'a languages, with some local dialects even combining the two.

Sorry i think this guy who took you from airport didn't understand you..he said that he is from malaita and you asked him which language did he speak apart from pidgin English..it could be lau language, tobaita, kwaio, are are, sa'a language and so forth..just to clarify it..

Taxi driver annoying..Maramasika is not the language it refer to Small Malaita.
