Bought the hole line and just clicked with the younger brother A l'extreme. My wife she just at some point started to used it to my surprise and them I started slowly to adore the smell. The greeness, the cypress, the vetiver all come togheter in a bittersweet dark symphony. Now I use it scares because I like to smell it on her. Good review Mich, really appreciate it.

Masterpiece fragrance. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Smells exactly like black ink! Awesome presentation, awesome sprayer, awesome everything. Love the ticker tape style font on the bottle. Got my bottle just a few years ago and get huge performance from it. Love wearing this on bonfire night! 🔥

Always loved the smell of those cypress trees that are used as hedging in so many gardens in the UK. They can look so ugly and can shade out everything around them but they have that fantastic scent when you rub the leaves or young cones. This is what Encre Noire is to me, a walk through a damp grove of Cypress trees on a dreary and misty day in late autumn in Scotland. It's a fragrance that's cold, not the icy kind of cold, but the damp kind of cold. If Dracula wore perfume, this would be his jam.

That's a really good way of putting it, it's got a dark, damp, green aspect that is amazing.

Nice review! I have Encre Noir Sport, it's a banger. Honestly, all 5 Lalique perfumes i have in my collection ( Encre noir sport, White, Fleur universelle, Oriental Zinc, Pour homme lion) are very nice and you can get them at reasonable prices!

I think this was interesting a decade ago when fragrances loaded with Iso E Super weren't as common, but when I smell this today I just get that chemical bomb base to it that it shares with stuff like Terre d'Hermes and Kenzo Air. I think this one is something like 50% Iso E!

Yeah this is a great perfume and for the price it’s an absolute steal..my favourite is the L’extremè where I do get a smokey vibe from it but you can’t go wrong with any of the three..for me one of the best Vetivers out there

Encre Noire brought me into Vetiver Fragrances. Love the different facettes of Vetiver. From TF Grey Vetiver (clean and dry) to Annick Goutals Vetiver ( salty marine) and deep dark medicinal Vetivers like Gucci Guilty Absolute. Love Vetiver Fragrances!

I wear this every autumn and every spring. I just enjoy this fragrance a lot, it smells amazing! Encre Noire will always be part of my collection, it’s a top 5 vetiver fragrance for me when you consider the quality and the price.

Awesome review. I was blown away the first time I smelled this. Great bang for your buck. I do think the A L Extreme is much better. I've never tried the sport version yet.

This fragrance and TDH (and Timbuktu) made me realize I don’t like vetiver with large doses of iso e super. In fact it took me a while to realize I do like vetiver as a note because I confused the iso with the vetiver.

That's a good insight. All those fragrances were around the same time, too, so I wonder how many people who got in to fragrances around that thought thats what vetiver smelled like? 🤔

Ohhh crap, now you just rocked my fragrance journey with that note. I like the scent of both Encre Noire and TDH, one of my favourite fragrances and now im confused if its the vetiver or the ISO E that i actually enjoy.

@@RichMitch They do sell it in retail stores here but I've never ever seen a tester, which is weird. And while I like and appreciate the original, I never find the right occasion to wear it, so I've held back from blind buying the Sport version.
