i I am a ham from the 1950s and now I almost cry when I realize and I could put all the radio functions I have spread all over the place in a single entry in the 9 foot rack-- and then with a little bit of help all is put into a little patch of plastic that can be pushed into the USB port-----that patch can't get to kW but it can do everything else and equally good. If I am not not sitting in front of 70 knobs and controls and a radio that weighs 50 or 60 LB--- I'm not doing radio-- you can imagine when I think of FT8 and that stuff but here I go assembling a rig that will get on FT8 .My wife took down my 40 meter quad but I still have 5 banders on the three big band 2015 and 10 and 6 even. Of course there's a rumor tax is illegal for me from Thailand. I don't really know funny thing about this country is unless you speak Thai fluently microphone and like a native, ,, forget it and I do mean forget it because I sit here without that facility and I know I know better what a little bit of what I'm missing. Thailand is put in a Thailand has put in a scary new tax structure for foreigners. I know there is signatures on piece of paper somewhere that says there's a prohibition against double taxation in two different countries. It seemed to apply to that.. I sure hope so. But the point is that I can't know for sure one way or the other. Thai with big degrees are always working for themselves first--- so I try to structure my affairs so that the Thai it will win first and maybe most. I live here and I swallow deeply. DX is great from here because you're an the center of raging China that doesn't speak English. Indonesia & India that will tell you the life story of their favorite animal. JA just want a contact and you're stuck with trying to reach USA which is a pull and not very open. Ohh yeah 2 meters. He called my English and eight or ten of those on the frequency with tiny English world quiet down and you'll get to talk to two very politely in English a hello. Say the local language is a big necessity I missed.... Sad but true and now too late too old.73.

In case you want to know, I own the finest shack anyone can have. anyone appreciate it going obsolete fast;. I get this--FT-9000 loaded.,SPE Expert 2K-FA--- auto antenna switch and SWR meter. Auto antenna tuner and can drive one of two rigs switchable... And outside yeah this five elements on all bands at 80 feet. And a 40 meter, 30m, and wsrk brand quad at 70 feet,================ backup rig was annI ICOm IC-7800 driving a 2KW 3 tube Alpha. Now 2025. friend with similar full rigs gave them away==== could not find a buyer. Sad for you to sitting in front of 70 knobs was just want to talk to the rig and make it do its job. And a little tiny tab of plastic. Very sad hams now will not know the excitement of 90 watts on a 40m dipole having VK to call you--- and knowing what a VK is 73. Going QRT now to wipe my tears and pull up my hospital blanket. It's all in qrz.com.......hahahahahahaahah. koff -... -.--

can i use a real counterpoise with the not res ef wire.. my coax can not be made longer.

Yes, you can. Just put a choke on the coax at the BalUn feed-point so you don't create two counterpoises, and very possibly change the impedance or resonance.
