Friday Night Funkin' is a Newgrounds rhythm game made in HaxeFlixel originally created for Ludum Dare 47. Programmed by ninjamuffin99 with a soundtrack produced by Kawai Sprite and artwork created by PhantomArcade and evilsk8r, the game can be played on Newgrounds or played/downloaded for free on Itch.io.
The plot of the game centers around Boyfriend trying to hook up with Girlfriend, but her ex-rockstar father Daddy Dearest doesn't approve of him. It's up to Boyfriend to rap battle his way through him and anyone else that stands in his way so that he can finally get freaky! Think you got what it takes?
Friday Night Funkin' is an ongoing project that will continue to receive updates, bug fixes and new content. Context O'clock: -Silly Billy: The opponent is named 'Yourself'. He's a BF created by Divide that has lost everything. His version of GF, named 'Herself', died and he stopped taking care of himself. In a meta context he also lost his creator, as Divide passed away a few years ago. The vocals have been interpreted as him wanting Herself, Divide, or BF to be proud of him. But I think it's a mixture of both -Trichael: Lord X's vessel is at the end of its life, and he's essentially spending the last few minutes before this reality collapses with the death of his vessel to sing about how happy he was to have this time, and how overjoyed he is to be finding a new vessel. He also addresses BF, saying how glad he was to battle him -Joyous: Lord X escapes into our reality and confronts his creator to stop him from ending the series because he doesn't want to fade away. He intends to kill his creator so he can live eternally -Fake Baby: No More Innocence is a Yokai that inhabits a Sonic game cartridge. After being screwed over by Daddy Dearest in the past, he kidnapped GF when she was a baby, which led to DD entering the game to get her back -Darnell Wet Fart: Plankton, in a bid to get the formula, gave Squidward a soul-corrupting clarinet that was forged with the help of the Flying Dutchman and King Neptune. This turned Squidward into a hollow husk of himself bent on cannibalism, named Starvedward. Mr. Krabs confronts Starvedward in an abandoned house while wearing his Anti-Ghost Armor from the episode 'Pranks A Lot'. Mr. Krabs' instrument is the World's Smallest Violin and Starvedward uses the Clarinet. At the end of the song the house collapses and kills Starvedward

Lookaside/Yourself isnt a evil character but, it is actually bf in a different universe. In Yourself's universe, he and gf (in this case her name is Herself), they suffered a very terrible accident which gf didnt survive but Yourself survived but he suffered a lot of injuries which is possible to see on his skin. Once Yourself found out that Herself died, he wasnt able to move on from her death and he tried everything to bring her back to life and he became so paranoid that he became in this form that we see in this music. Also, if you pay close attention, you can see a red figure happearing behind Yourself's lyrics part of the music, which is the spirit of Herself that got attached in his microphone. The reason why Yourself came to the universe of bf is because he wants to defeat him so that he can see herself once again and that's why Yourself's lyrics is about Herself because he wants her to be proud of him just like in the old times before she didnt survive that fatal accident.

Quick context for Silly Billy and Darnell Wet Fart (I only know the context for those two songs) The character in Silly Billy is named Himself. He was designed by Divide before he passed away and was originally intended for Vs Sonic.exe. There is a Girlfriend character called Herself, and she is what shows up during the lyrics part. Darnell Wet Fart was originally a song for Mistful Crimson Morning v2 before it got cancelled. Darnell Wet Fart was the joke name for the song (the actual name for the spng was Bold or Brash). The mod did get uncancelled, again, but Sturm wanted to put the song in Hit Single. The character in the song is Teuthida (Blue Jellyfish) also called Starved Squidward. Hes basically just Starved Eggman but its Squidward instead of Eggman. And thats pretty much it

Song lore time!: In Silly Billy: "Yourself" is the Boyfriend from another reality/dimension. He suffered the death of his version of Girlfriend, which caused him to spiral into a depression that twisted himself in both mind and body. He challenges our version of Boyfriend to a rap battle in hopes of finding some sort of purpose. Unbeknownst to Yourself, his Girlfriend continues to look after him as a spirit possessing his microphone. The red flash during the lyrics section of Silly Billy shows a rough silhouette of Girlfriend with demon wings wrapping her arms around him. In Trichael: This song is about Lord X at the end of his lifespan with his current vessel (Sonic), which is rotting away due to his antimatter physiology. He is saddened at loosing an identity he has grown so attached to, but at the same time rejoices at the prospect of gaining a new vessel entirely of his own. In Joyous: This is a similar scenario to Trichael, but with Lord X having the exact opposite mindset. He does not want to stop existing as Lord X, and so he hunted down his own creator to kill him and take his soul. That way, his story can never come to an end, because he destroyed the only person who can properly give him a conclusion. In Fake Baby: This song features a creepypasta character known as No More Innocence. It is a Japanese Spirit that feeds on the minds of the innocent by giving out haunted cartridges of Sonic the Hedgehog under the guise of a Sega employee. In this song's scenario, NMI was a fellow demon betrayed by Daddy Dearest and locked in a Sonic cartridge. He takes revenge by kidnapping Girlfriend as a baby, and taunts DD for failing as a father when he comes to save her.

some other things I found (Idk if its true or not) about NMI, is that in the song, he kidnaps GF to use her as a way to escape the prison, Daddy Dearest finds out about this and to goes to him, and while he does try to resist NMI, he ends up giving in just to find out GF was dead from the get go, and as he mourns her death the last text in the song says "You'll do anything, for the person you love" or sum like that.

Here is the lore for Silly Billy: Silly Billy, as known of "Yourself", is another Boyfriend from another universe. In his universe, his girlfriend died in a accident. He was there too, but only him survived. After all of this, something happened to him that his body went... Well... Disfigured. Now, his real image is his canon image. Taller. But, in this song something is happening. I rather think he tried to get into another universes using Girlfriend's powers (Herself powers), so he would try and revive his girl back. And in this song, he tries to beat Boyfriend to win his Girlfriend, but as we see it didn't went this way... He was dying during the entire song. He's mentally and fisically broken, and the only thing he wanted is to get his Girlfriend back again... He wanted her to say how proud she is of him, singing and winning all of his matches. This match was the last one for him, and possibly the only one he have lost. I must say, he is an incredible character.

(yourself isn't a faker boyfriend btw, hes from another universe) herself died in some accident, which caused yourself to go insane now here's some theories and fun facts! some may be canon some may be not canon, just a warning. herself was singing during yourselfs lyric part. if you listen close enough to yourselfs high notes, you can hear herself singing with him! how sweet :) yourselfs undershirt may be one of herselfs shirts he wears just to keep a bit of her with him. herself still lingers around yourself. some people theorize the reason yourselfs microphone is red for a moment is because herself actually possessed his microphone to stay with him. the lyric "so stay awake just long enough to see, my way" may be referencing his creator, Divide, wanting him to stay awake long enough to see what they made with his creation. it also may be referencing herself, yourself asking her to stay awake just long enough to see him win the battle rest in peace Divide, you will be missed. the lyric "ill make you say how proud you are of me" could ethier be referencing herself, or boyfriend. most likely herself, just wanting to know that his girlfriend is proud of him. if you pause at the right time during the singing part, you can actually see herselfs red spirit around yourself and a pair of angel wings. people say that the reason it turns more blue after yourselfs singing part is because herself used all her energy just to sing with yourself one last time, and she finally passed on. this is all the information i have, tell me in the comments if you have any theories or corrections!

So, the "faker" in Silly Billy actually does have some lore behind him. His name is Yourself, although people call him Lookalike because I think that's what Divide called them, and he's actually BF from an alternate universe where his girlfriend dies, hence why he looks like.. that. And the thing that appears behind him in the lyrics section is the spirit of Herself (Yourself's gf), you can even hear her singing the lyrics and the note vocals if you listen closely. Apparently Herself lives in his microphone according to the lore facts. Also, I like how you turned your character blue to fit the theme at 7:19! (If this comment gets more attention maybe I'll add some more fun facts)

Lore Time For The Viewers Silly Billy Yourself in Silly Billy is an alternate universe version of Boyfriend that morns over the death of their girlfriend in there universe. Because of this, Yourself Boyfriend doesn't take care of himself which is why his clothes are ragged up but also losing his sanity in the process. Yourself in the mod is tall to sow tat in the fnf universe he's portrayed as being small, in reality his is a tall adult. One tin to note, when he has is solo in the song at the last min you can see a red figure near him before it fades. That is girlfriend that Yourself I'm assuming tries to keep a part of her with him. Trichrel Lord X's body of sonic is finally rotting, the world is fading with X. This song is showing what I think is Lord X moving from his vessel he's into using Boyfriend as his new vessel. Talks about it at the end of his lyrics, we don't get to see it happen since it fades to white but that's what I assume happened. Joyous Lord X comes to the real world tracking his creator JoeDoughBoi down to kills him. In further detail, Lord X leaves the digital plain of the game he resides to find there creator. X finds him an kills him an disappears without a traces. The reason X did this was to have JoeDoughBoi not end the storyline of the Soulless Sonic Series. Succeding this, X is now immortal so to speak. FakeBaby In most lore be hind No More Innocence They describe him as a Japanese spirit that haunts sonic games to feed of the children's enjoyment from the games. However in this version of the universe, NMI is a demon. In this universe Daddy Dearest and NMI are related in some way because they're both demons. The story goes that Dearest in usual fashion, traps soul into stuff which is what he did to NMI an place him into the sonic videogame. Obviously NMI did take this likely so when Girlfriend was born as a baby NMI he kidnapped her in the game. Forcing Daddy Dearest to follow into the game to face off NMI for his kid. Since we don't know at the end of the song was he successful to get his child back, however because this is an alternate universe it's hard to tell if he did save his kid or not. ( Imma say he did save her in my opinion) Darnell Wet Fart In this universe of SpongeBob, this universe is change to have a similar timeline related to the Starved Eggman timeline. The story goes that Plankton is trying to get Krab's secret formula. His I idea was to corrupt one of his employs to obtain the formula. Plankton obtains from The Flying Dutchmen or Neptune's treasures the soul corrupting clarinet. After he obtain it an gave it to Squidward an replaced his normal clarinet, the clarinet made him hungry for an audience literally an kills fish one by one killing them an eating there corpses. Squidward heads to Krab's place to do the same an breaks in. Krab's heads this waking up and grabs his ghost repellent suit he has in one of the episodes. Facing off Squidward at the end of the song we hear something happen, Krab's house collapsed from Squidward's damage an kills them both. P.S. I didn't talk about the other songs in this mod because they were secret songs when collecting the side characters in Garn47 game. I don't have any info about the Garn47 lore but i hope this explanation help about the character's lore. you have convinced me to download the mod and tried my first ever playthrough of anything fnf related. side note to people wanting to download this mod yet don't have fnf, you don't need to buy fnf to be able to play this so you have have this be your test run to see if you would like to play more fnf stuff in general. something I noticed about the power of pig song is that the 'human soul of Conan' part has the visuals become better quality(most noticeably with the score board) and that if you miss consistently a few times, the gif of Syndrom from Incredibles appears, starting faint and getting more and more clear the more notes you miss in a short time

*Faker BF Lore* His real name is Silly Billy, or "Yourself" Yourself is a character created by Divide, a developer of Sonic.Exe that passed away during development in his sleep. This is BF, but from another timeline where he lost it all. His GF died in a tragic accident, and he couldn't cope with the loss. He was driven insane, yet he continued his life, terribly injured. He grew desperate for appreciation and validation since he had nobody left to cheer him on, and no applause for how much he's persevered. His lyrics (some referring to GF and others to Divide) fit this context perfectly. Yourself says "Stay awake" since Divide died in his sleep. He also looks like he's about to cry when saying "Proud you are of me" because he only wanted to impress his GF (her name is "Herself") And the song is called "Silly Billy" because that's what his GF used to call him.
