Was this the last of Klay Thompson with the Warriors?

If he won’t take a large paycut? Yes. And I mean compared to his current deal, not his market value. His market value is probably around 20 a year? The MLE will be like 2/26.6 or 3/40.9M. So around 13.5/y or so. You can give him 17.5 Y1 w 8% raises and that’d be 3/56.7M. That’s only 12.4% of the cap next year. 18.3 Y1 is closer to 13% and that’d be 3/59.3ish. He apparently turned down 2/48-50M before this season. That’s widely reported. If I am GSW there’s no way I’m giving him 2/50 unless year 2 is a partial gtd or something. I’d prolly do 3/60 tho, bc 2/50 is around 24M next year. 3/60 is around 18,520,000 Y1. If he doesn’t take like 3/60 or something where they can stay below the second apron and have flexibility to improve the roster, then ya he’s outta there. What team is gonna give him more? Maybe he could get a 1y balloon deal for like 1/28 or whatever from a not good team, but he’s not getting like 3/75 gtd and certainly not from a good team. He is basically a high volume 3P specialist atp who can occasionally have some bigger games where he makes some middies or gets to the rim/FT line. He’s not a good defender anymore, like at all. Honestly with Duncan Robinson getting better at decision making w the ball, and being able to attack close outs and cut off ball…he’s prolly a solid comp but he’s a decent bit younger. Grayson Allen just got 4/70, Klay is a higher volume shooter and has a lot more playoff experience, but is he worth way more than 18M? I don’t think so. Also they still gave him the max after an ACL tear (I think it was after the ACL but before the Achilles?) when they didn’t have to. I’m not saying he should sacrifice $ bc of that, but they took care of him, I think if he still wants to be on this team he should be reasonable. For sure have your agent gauge your value on the open market, but when you inevitably realize you don’t have any offers for more than maybe 1/25-28 or 2/48, probably won’t have a big offer from a good team either…PHI might offer 2/36 or something, but the 2/50 or 1/28 is prolly from ORL at best. Once he realizes that, don’t go to GSW demanding 3/100M and be mad if they say no lol. If he wants to stay he’s prolly gotta take 3/55-60. And if he wants to win there, they need him to take maybe 18M Y1 or so. That’s the only way to keep him and still have flexibility to make moves to improve the team. They’ll turn down CP3’s non gtd (sign him for the min if he wants to stay) and then they’ll have flexibility with 3 movable 1sts and swaps. They owe their 2030 but it’s T20 protected, so they can still trade it by protecting it 21-30. So it’s really just as valuable as normal, bc you’re trading for that pick for the upside and chance it’s a good lotto pick when Steph and e1 is gone. They can move ‘26/‘28, ‘30 protected 21-30…then swaps in ‘29 and ‘27, even one in ‘31 if they want. So they have ammo…and can use like GPII’s expiring, Looney’s expiring, etc. to salary match. Possibly Wiggins in a big trade with multiple picks attached. They’re a cpl mill over the tax with CP3 and 10 others. If they turn down CP’s 30, it’ll be 10 total players and 28M or so under. If Klay takes 18ish, they sign two minimums, they’ll have the TMLE at least, possibly a decent chunk of the regular MLE like 8-9M to spend on a FA while staying under the apron. You can get a solid player for 8M (say 2y 16.4 or w/e) and then they’d be able to make moves. They couldn’t make moves if they’re over the second apron really bc you can’t aggregate salaries, can’t take back more $ than u send out. So ya GPII/Looney is 17.1M they could move for someone. Or if they’re swinging big, Wiggins/Looney + picks for someone making in that 30-36M range. Long post, not even a GSW fan just bored and can’t sleep lol. Should be interesting to see what they do. I think you kinda owe it to Steph to at least seriously try to add real talent. Even if it means trading ‘28/‘30 1sts and a swap or w/e. They’ll be infinitely cheaper next year, likely barely in the tax. Certainly under second apron. Gotta take one more swing at it w Steph.

I think the opinion of Steph and Draymond mean too much and if Klay wants to stay, then Klay stays. Something tells me Klay wants to play for the Lakers before he’s done so if that’s now then farewell my friend you’re a GSW legend for life

That seems to happen to me all the time too. Put together a really good team that goes 60 plus wins in the regular season and then the game gets a hard on for a particular player who just blows you out of the arena in four games.

Still def wanna see a throwback DET rebuild, save them from SVG and now this new regime. Pre-Blake ideally, though he was amazing the one year here…SVG ran him in to the ground to get swept by MIL.

Thanks to the Warriors loss the Blazers get two first round picks in the lottery, they can add to their young core

Gonna be super interesting to see what happens with the Warriors this off-season. I’m almost Curry stays but not to sure about Klay or Draymond.

I’d be shocked if they moved Draymond just bc idk who on earth would trade for him and give up real value. They’ll surely turn down CP3s non gtd, likely offer him the min to return if he wants. I think the only way Klay is still there is if he takes a reasonable deal. He turned down 2/48-50 in the offseason, they shouldn’t even offer him that much. Maybe 3/60 at most, that’d make sure they stay under the apron and can make trades to improve. Idk who’d give him more than that…maybe like ORL offers him a balloon deal for 1/28 or w/e, but in terms of total $ idk who’s giving him 3/60+. So unless some bad team offers him a 1-2y deal GSW will prolly be his biggest bag and best team offering it. It’ll indeed be v interesting to see what happens. They need to be seriously trying to add talent, be willing to move multiple 1sts to do so. If not that’s the only way I can see Curry getting rly fed up. Still hard to see him asking out, and it’s so hard to trade for his 55M deal…but I’m sure a contender would figure it out if he asked lol. Curry + Wemby would be p crazy! Keldon, filler, a bunch of picks, who wouldn’t watch that?
