Miss Diane (Sue Hanson) wanted to leave anyway - but she was upset by the way the producer wrote her out!! And to name a donkey after her was the final insult! I think Diane should have been seen flying off to America to live with her son!

I do like the fact organ donation was discussed and ‘Diane’ had a organ donation card.

That brought back a lot of memories! I've just shed a tear for poor Diane. It was Central TV that killed off Crossroads...not a lack of viewers - it was still popular at the time.(fact)

Made it too posh and upmarket which obviously failed

These scenes were really touching. They touched me! and I was only a few years old when this first went to air and only know of this character through reading and watching back on episodes.Viewers must have been in tears at the time to see a long serving character like this suddenly die. I suppose for regular viewers it must have been like watching a friend or family member die.

Sue Hanson as Diane was one of soap's greats - so natural and likeable. We wept buckets when she died!

the language is horrifyingly blunt! (the Doctor) - I don't think you'd get that in TV soap anymore?!

one could argue that all drama is rubbish then dear. Crossroads addressed many issues way before its time and is a part television history like it or not. 15m viewers 4/3 nights a week says its not. Eastenders and the street would kill for that. quite often it beet the street in ratings and thats no mean feet when a show goes out at all different times through out the regional network before 7 o'clock!

Funny how she still called herself Diane Hunter, despite her marriage to Chris Hunter being one born out of convenience than love!
