But no one knew that until her funeral as she'd knocked a few years off her age. 1919 was only revealed on her coffin lid plate.

Love all the comments about Doris or Annie as she didn't like to be called especially in social events. What an amazing actress she was. I have recently been watching the start of the show and now enjoying 1971. Times like them will never be repeated and the acting magnificent. Thank you for placing this small tribute here.

they were missing as they could not stand her due to her horrible behaviour towards everyone around her.

Really? Hmm Interesting, not the impression we've got from the majority of the cast and crew over the years. Nor does it seem to reflect the ATV staff in general's view - the clip where she gets a standing ovation at a ATV party is online. Even Charles Denton, who took the blame for ditching her said it wasn't a personal issue 'she was a nice woman' he said 'just the producer wanted to change the programme to make it an ensemble cast'. But no doubt there are one or two people who she didn't get on with, she self-stated if you gave a cause to be blunt then she was.
@CrossroadsFanClub8 ай бұрын
@@AssociatedTVNetwork People from ATV Today coming out to speak fondly of her - Bob Warman (Who also narrated her TV tribute), Wendy Jones who introduced a special programme after her death, Anne Diamond, Nick Owen, all say lovely things about Noele. Extras on the show who said she was the only person who spoke to them and would ask how their careers were going, taking time to welcome new cast. The floor managers, production teams, carmera crews, over the years we've had messages from all the various departments who worked on Crossroads and not one of them have ever said she was 'horrible'. So, no. As Sue Lloyd said Noele would be stern if someone was messing around and wasn't being professional. She was only 'off' with you if you gave her a reason.

Visually the costumes of Mavis Hooper were the inspiration to Victoria Wood for Mrs Overall in Acorn Antiques, although the name came from Mrs Mack in Take The High Road and Julie Walters used Ann George as her basis for the performance.
