I've played piano casually since I was about 7 and loved it... UNTIL I HAD LESSONS. I found that lessons turned it from a hobby to a chore, and since I quit lessons ive loved it again! So I recommend not taking lessons until you really want the grades just keep it as a hobby xxx

So glad you're finally able to relax, Eve! I hope you're having fun. Piano lessons are great! Although at the same time, you can learn a lot from the Internet for free, so it just depends on what you are more comfortable with. Just a small note, it's probably nothing to worry about, but I received that exact record player for Christmas, and it worked fine at first, but then in April, I bought a brand new Kate Bush vinyl, and the second I placed the needle down, it went really loose and suddenly scratched right along the record. I was unable to fix the arm of the needle, and I have no idea why it suddenly became so loose. Mine was probably just faulty, but I just thought I'd let you know, as it was rather annoying. 😊 xx

awe thatscute definitely work from the beginning, but also enjoy it!! It’s hard work but everyone gets thru it in the end and I have and you will, if you are doing a subject like English or History or Geog or any science make revision notes from the beginning it will really help!!

I would just like to say that I never think you should compromise self care through exam season. I did that for GCSE's and it took me a while to recover. I didn't do that for AS' and I'm so happy I didn't because I feel okay. I had the prerogative throughout GCSE's of "do I straighten my hair, or do I do revision?" in a patronising tone. don't do that to yourself. the little things help you. you can probably still get the same grade you would get if you didn't treat yoself to little things as you would if you did. plus if you do treat yourself, you don't feel as empty as you do once exams are over as you would if you didn't. don't feel guilty.

As someone who did their gcses this year this was exactly me and I really wasn't feeling myself during exam season and it was the most horrific feeling. This is the advice I tell to every year 10 who asks me about my experience :)

if you’re playing on a keyboard, i’d get keyboard lessons (if you actually wanna read music, learn theory, not always fun) because flirting between keyboard and piano well it’s a little trippy and there’s not as many keys on a keyboard and it’s not weighted and so many other reasons, i did keyboard lessons cos i had a keyboard then did piano lessons when i got a piano, just logic mostly x

Piano lessons are fun, I would say, but it'll be impossible to carry them on during term! So maybe just take them for the summer? I think it does help you to improve more quickly, and then you can enjoy yourself more on your own time.
