What a shame. At least we whould be playing outdoors soon. Please keep producing your excellent series of bowls on KZbin. I often refer to previous episodes for information

Such a sad story Alec and unfortunately lack of money will result in so many similar clubs, not just bowls, closing. I really hope something is done for you all locally but if not I hope you soon settle in to your new indoor club at Camberley. All the best. Trevor

The powers that be know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Your point of health and well being of the older generation should and must be factored in to any fiscal decisions made by a responsible council. ( I know dream on) But as you mention, the withdrawel of funding from central gov is the death nail for any activity based lifestile. I have just retired and have taken up bowls and I am sure a similar fate is in store for our small club renting an outside green from the council. "It is what it is" as we say down here. Thank you for your time and expertise I learn alot from your coaching. I wish you all the best from sunny Bristol.

It's so sad to leave a club that has been a huge part of your life for so many years, I wish you all the best for the future and hope you find a new club soon.

I’m really sorry to hear the RIBC is closing but I wish everyone there all the best for the future, it a sad end to a great club. Our indoor bowling facility was also part of the local leisure centre here in Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland, however it is a different tale for our bowlers because after much campaigning they have included a purpose built 4 x rink bowls hall. The carpet is due to be laid in the next few weeks and hopefully we’ll be bowling indoor again by September when it formerly opens.

The local council in Gainsborough did exactly the same left us without a indoor bowls club

What a shame...similar thing happened here in Geelong.. 2 bowls clubs sold there sites to build a new one... It took over 3 years to build..lost players, caused lots of problems. the local council said they didn't have the funds to do what they wanted...eventually they finished, with 2 greens and one under cover which is really good. It left the bowls club with a heavy debt. Barefoot bowls is the biggest revenue raiser in Australia. Another club down the road from where I live have over 800 members alone for barefoot bowls, so popular for the young people. Let's hope something can be worked out. I would be doing another presentation to the council to show how y can increase bowlers into the club by introducing various ways to attract new people, you have to sell it, as it is just for 300? members probably won't cut it. Anyhow chin up it works out in the end.

Thanks Shane, I am glad to hear your club got going. Barefoot bowls has been a huge success in Australia, I wish we had the weather to do that here.
