In defense of the home gym cost, you did get some of the nicest gear you can get. There are more cost-effective routes in terms of equipment, albeit with a drop in quality. Either way loved the update. I too am working a serious part time job while doing online school this year. I am nervous too. You always inspire me to do more and work harder.

From what others (who have done the whole part-time thing during school) have said, they were super optimistic about it given remote learning. 🤷🏻♂️ - James

Looking forward to following your journey man. And def do consider building that brand/community about how to do things. I think you have a unique analytical approach that I've enjoyed listening to ever since your pomp posts. As a throwback, I remember submitting a question that you answered -- about /r/mfa and distinguishing your own style and you talked about the basic principles of color wheel but in the end the style is defined by you. I wish I still had that answer. Anyways, if you ever need insight in helping you build the web platform lmk as I'm a software engineer by trade. Otherwise, keep us posted on that community!

I think people often call for data or rely too heavily on a framework. They’re useful but can rarely envision a next step - especially if it’s out of scope. Or it can lead you down a road of optimization that doesn’t capture the holistic view. But damnnnn fam, you’re referring some shit from wayyyyyyyyyy back. Throwback to those days. - James

How do you deal with the stress and anxiety, particular with weekly deadlines and labs? I'm well into my MS in Comp. Eng. and I find that those are the worst. Like technically you can fail and re-take it relatively soon if you're lucky, but as someone who's subconciously worried about failure itself, it's really taking a toll. Studying for finals is way easier. It's the relentless short-term deadlines that suck. I thought I'd learn after all these years, but it's not really getting better. What's your mindset, and has anything conretely helped you?

Bro. I honestly never got over it. At the start of a class, project, job, design, problem set, etc., I got the butterflies and wanna barf. Luckily in engineering you always work with a team. I’ve learned to surround myself with people I trust academically/intellectually and socially. That was what helped me get through MSME and motivates me in industry. - James

Unfortunately the Approved List has been discontinued. Just use THEPOMP at respective shops. You'll still be getting a good deal!

Definitely agree that it was hard to focus at home when classes went online in March. My professor wasn’t tech savvy either so it went sorta terrible.

Good to see things are going well with you. My situation is finding software job during all of this. As a recent graduate, me and many others are in a hard position getting entry jobs since working remote a lot of the time requires demonstrated industry experience. Your academic background provides some competition but do you have any other tips?

This is not a great time to be on the market, but I think the larger companies have been unfazed in their hiring trends. Startup or mature company...you’ll need to make an extra effort to socially integrate into the existing team environment. Not easy virtually. - James

What is your haircut called. I know it by the slang name of the “Edgar haircut” but I’m going to the barber on Friday and want to know the actual name of the haircut. Thanks for your videos they are very informative, loved your Suavecito video.

Crop. French crop. Viet crop is my personal name for it. But I feel you on its lack of a proper name...just show your barber a pic and specify the sides (mid drop fade from skin or whatever). - James

You should've looked at second-hand stuff, i have about the same stuff you do (Rogue barbell, Rogue squat rack, REP weights and bench, standard weights, etc.) all for about $1,500

Did you pick this up during quarantine? 2nd hand market was out of control. 2x-3x markup was what I saw on eBay and locally on CL. - James
@GayFlyingSquriell4 жыл бұрын
The Pomp I managed to snag the bar and rack right as quarantine started so I got em at a fair price. The weights and bench I got a second hand on Craigslist. Took a while to find some decently priced. Anything over $2.50/lb is robbery.
