The end of the Third Age saw the final fall of Sauron, the return of the king, and the beginning of Middle-earth’s transition into the world that was yet to be. Thank you all so much for watching our Timeline of Arda series, it has been such a grand journey! As always, a great thanks to the online artists whose visual works made this video possible! If you are one of the artists, please let me know and I will post your name and a link to your work in this description!

It’s a testament to Tolkien’s world building that his actual novels took a single 12 minute video but his various reference works and incomplete manuscripts took 14 videos to cover.

"Well........I'm back." No matter how many times I hear the tales I never get tired of hearing my favorite characters live in my favorite world and do the deeds that I can only dream of. It may just b a story, or stories, but they help with getting thru life. And yet this is not the end. The stories and characters keep going ever on 😊❤

As embarrassing as this may sound, every time I go through a heartache, whether it’s a break up with a girl,, problems at the job, etc., watching the Lord of the rings trilogy or listening to the Silmarillion on Podcasts actually somehow makes me feel better. I know they are just stories, but I feel as if people can accomplish the deeds in those stories with bravery and courage, I can certainly get past anything that might be troubling me!

I love reading Tolkien's works and re-reading them again and again. Each time, I love it all - the characters, the world he build, the struggles we all can identify with. I always wish to live in that world with all its difficult and amazing events.

My favorite part in the timeline has to be the late third age. We have the pleasure of spectating as the different races of the peoples of middle earth banding together, inspire of and because of their differences, and prevail against the Shadow (a theme the world would do well to contemplate). I love this sorry so much that I cry during at least 15-20 points of the LORT story. The climax of the story, in my humble opinion, is when Gandalf asks "Well, master, Samwise, how do you feel?" (sam hadn't seen Gandalf since he fell into the chasm of Khazad Dum, where Sam assumed he had died). After a moment of doubt, Sam hears Gandalf laughs, then Sam says laughing "how do I feel?! I feel like spring after winter, and sun on the leaves; and like all trumpets and harps and like all the songs I have ever heard!" I had to re-read that to get the dialogue correct, and I was sobbing as I read it. The most poignant passage is when the minstrel, on the field of Cormalen, says "for I will sing to you of Frodo and the nine-fingers and the ring of doom." Sam then jumps up and and says "oh great glory and splendor, and all my wishes have come true!" By this point I'm sobbing uncontrollably. Best phrase: "tears are the very wine of blessedness." Show me another story that can make me feel like that, please. I'm not sure it's possible, biases aside, but I need this kind of stuff in my life, as do many people.

Sauron cast a dark and long shadow across the third age, and it took a difficult and prolonged journey to escape it. This has been a privilege to share the chronicling of that voyage here in this channel, but like the past ages of Middle Earth all things must come to an end.

My favorite part of the Legendarium happens outside of Eä, outside of the timeline, in the Timeless Halls that stretch from Abyss to the Firmament. Ainulindalë. The Ainur spring from the thought of Eru. Everything that follows springs from Ainulindalë I find The Music of the Ainur breathtakingly, stunningly, powerful and beautiful. Just typing to this point waters my eyes. "And thus was the habitation of the Children of Ilúvatar established at last in the Deeps of Time and amidst the innumerable stars."

Yet the Will of Morgoth, though in the Void beyond the Doors of Night, still exists in this world. " Yet the lies that Melkor, the mighty and accursed, Morgoth Bauglir, the Power of Terror and of Hate, sowed in the hearts of Elves and Men are a seed that does not die and cannot be destroyed; and ever and anon it sprouts anew, and will bear dark fruit even unto the latest days." And so it is even unto this day that there are those who heed the Will of Morgoth and perpetuate evil come into every generation.

Mae govannen Yoystan. My favorite part is the "you were also meant to have it" showing how the plans of Eru incorporate the thoughts and choices and wills of the free peoples yet still accomplish His music. Despite discord and confusion in the Music, ultimately the ending will be glorious, and *after* that we will be part of the themes of Eru played aright. Ah, the hope that is beyond all despair of the world beneath the stars of heaven!

This was a great series, and I learned a lot. Side note, I'd be curious to see a video on this channel commenting on The Last Ringbearer, a book by Kirill Eskov which basically told of the end of the Third Age from Mordor's perspective. Personally, it screams of Morgoth's perversions to me, but I be curious what more learned minds on Tolkein had to say.
