Although Elrond was a mighty warrior , his power was not based on prowess, but on wisdom and foresight . Basically on kindness

I have a few questions about magic in Tolkien's works. I know the Magic/Creation that the Valar do is a finite part of them (and maybe also the world itself). 1. Are they both the same power? 2. If not, do the Valar have both Creation AND Magic? 3. If they do, is their Magic the same as Elven Magic? 4. Is ALL Elven Magic Galadriel's "I don't know what you're talking about, we're just very good with nature" Magic? 4a. Is the Magic Galadriel used "to throw down Dol Guldur's walls" the same as her "good with nature" Magic? 4b. Is the Magic of the Elven rings the same as Galadriel's "good with nature" Magic? 5. Is Elrond's Healing Magic the same as the Magic he uses at the Bruinen? 6. Is Gandalf's Magic he uses at the Bruinen the same as Elrond's? 6a. Do Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White use the same Magic? (For completion's sake, I think I know this one: He had less restrictions as GtW) This was all triggered by a recollection I'm not sure of, that Elrond's Healing Magic was different from other kinds of Magic. Thank you to anyone who made it this far. 😁

You cannot deny how goated Elrond is as an elven character. Idc what anyone says, but the ROP tv series really did his character dirty and it's not just for his character design.

I was disappointed with Elrond so far in Rings of Power not because of the actor but how the writers are portraying him.

He is a descendant of Beren and Luthien who took back one of the Silmaril from Melkor himself. He is also a part of the lineage of Turin Torumbar, Hurin, Huor, Tuor, and so forth. He is a descendant of Fingolfin who was able to fight Melkor in single combat and give him wounds that would haunt him forever. He's also the son of Earendil who succeeded in reaching Valinor and called the Valar for aid against Melkor. :P He even is a descendant of the Maiar Melia. So of course, he is powerful. :P

@marionbaggins I can't find anything that says Elros and Elrond ever saw each other again. Elrond didn't visit Numenor until the 600th year of the Second Age. By that point, Elros was already deceased. As far as I'm aware, once Elros reaches Numenor, he never leaves.

Certainly having so many ancestors who were powerful in their own right played a major role in why Elrond was a power himself. But one thing that I think is overlooked is that he was wise enough to learn from the many terrible mistakes the Noldor had made when they returned to Middle-Earth.

One of Elrond greatest strengths was temperance. It made him even more effective, due to his wisdom, imo. And air can either be as gentle as a summer breeze or as powerful as a hurricane. I think that reflects Elrond justly even though he's mostly just a gentle nurturing soul. Elrond is my 2nd fav in lotr. I think... lol

"I bring word from Elrond of Rivendell." Quietly a powerhouse that everyone remembers but don't think of right away. Personally I think his ultimate power comes from his wisdom and a universal safe haven. Everyone sought his council and opinion which helped to shape the future. And his home was a place of rest and peace, something all good folk crave more than anything 😊

Well to be fair 9:43, sauron wouldn't even be able to control the balrog, they are only servants of Melkor (Morgoth), and only serve him and the leaders of the Balrogs (Gothmog) who died, The Balrogs of Morgoth would know that Sauron was his LT, and not attack him, but they wouldn't obey his will, and commands.

Since Gandalf was told he was the only one of the Istari to be on the path to accomplishing their goal, and the Blue Wizards were not credited with some great evil they wrought after falling from grace, I'd always assumed that they simply failed and died in their fight against Sauron's influence before making much of an impact.

01:04 "Unrelated to Hobbits and Dwarfs" ? Objection! The Druedain are most certainly related to Hobbits. As they are both (hobbits and humans) related altogether far more closely than too Elves, Ents, Eagles, or the Khazâd from Aulë. Neither are they Maiar. Unfortunately, they all (druedain, Hobbits, humans) are closer to Orcs than the rest (arguably).

You *could* make a movie out of this, but it sure as hell wouldn't be a "behold fans, Lord of the Rings is back!" sort of blockbuster that they are probably going to try to make. Hopefully they're working on a low key, more comtemplative film than we've seen in a while

Galadriel explicitly didn't tell anyone in their company about what she found out about Halbrand in the season one finale. To make Annatar's plotline work, they should have Galadriel and Elrond away from Eregion for most or of season two. If they see Annatar, they will likely recognize Halbrand in him. Celebrimbor will probably work with Annatar, impressed by his artifact-making skills. He'll keep an eye on Annatar due to his past doubts about Halbrand. Eventually, Celebrimbor realizes his trust was misplaced, tries to destroy the rings, but it's too late. Celebrimbor isn't a fool; he's just being manipulated by a master deceiver.
