The Brutal Murder of Fernando Arroyos made national headlines a couple years ago when he was gunned down while house shopping with his girl friend in South LA. He was a 3 year veteran of the LAPD and was beloved by his entire community... The gang members who committed the murder were part of a well known street gang "Florencia 13" a Mexican Mafia Subgroup who have a strong presence in South LA. All of this happened because they wanted Officer Arroyos gold chain and once they discovered his LAPD ID card, everything changed and the shootout began. Here is the story.

First of all I apologize in advance for such a lengthy comment but I believe I have some information that will help you . . . I think i told you this before but I'm 49 and a SFV Peckerwood and have many years in prison. I'm also a recovering addict. First of all respect to you for your recovery. Its nothing to be ashamed of, its part of our story and we can pay it forward by sharing our story and our experiences so I give you much respect for speaking about it I do want to say something about this "enhancement" thing here in California. I believe it was a bill (AB - Assembly Bill) that was passed several years ago here in California that once you get to prison all the enhancements that you get added on in court get dropped when you get to CDC-R (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation). It went into effect several years ago. I haven't been to prison since 2011 and just after that all kinds of new laws were passed and AB's went into effect which changed the amount of time criminals do like getting rid of mandatory minimums and now only violent offenders go upstate. So you've got people doing upwards of 15 years in COUNTY JAILS now. Up until about 2012 the MOST time you could spend in county jail was 1 year. I could go into more detail about all this but it would take a long time. These AB's and laws were implemented to cut down on prison over crowding. So even tho you may get a 5 year gang enhancement or a 3 year enhancement for a felon with a firearm etc in court, once you get to prison they are going drop the enhancements. So I really believe this DA isnt bothered with charging criminals with enhancements because once they hit the yard it will be removed so its pointless to do all the extra work in court to get the enhancement added on if its not going to stick. Also, as far as the death penalty goes in California it is still on the books. Meaning yiu can still be sentenced to the death BUT California issued an official moratorium on the death penalty. Gavin Newsome initiated it in 2019. So you still have inmates on Death Row but they will MAY never be put to death. If a Republican ever became Governor in California then you could bet the moratorium will be removed but as you know that will most likely NEVER hapoen in California😂 There is a chance that a new Democratic Governor takes office and has some connection to a family or has a family member killed by a criminal that needed the death penalty and then just maybe that new Democratic Governor MAY decide to start killing death row inmatws again but as of now California is not executing death row inmates. The last inmate to be executed in California was in 2006. An inmate by the name of Allen Hope some of this was informative. In my day you went upstate on a violation and you could do as much as 1 year FLAT on a violation. It was just a different time back then. It's way different now. You aren't doing proper research. I can clearly tell by the way that is worded that you just copy and pasted. Copy and pasting the first thing you see on Google is a big mistake. I'm an ex convict in California and can tell you how that is not the full story and you are incorrect because California DOES STILL have the death penalty. Even tho what you said is did happen California executed inmates up until 2006 with the most recent execution being an execution by lethal injection in 2006 at San Quentin where Death Row is located. I think his name was Allen. Before him I believe it was Tookie Williams , the co-founder of the crips. The death penalty has been in ABEYANCE since 2006 when executions ACTUALLY stopped but Governor Newsome put a MORATORIUM on the death penalty in 2018 or 2019. But don't get it twisted, California DOES STILL have the death penalty. I think California has about 500 or 600 death row inmates as of now. Somewhere around that number. There is a moratorium on it as of now. If you're not familiar with those terms you can easily look up the definition. Looking up definitions is safer than a Google search 😉. Webster's is a great source of definitions. There are other sources that will give you an accurate definition as Webster's will tho.
