I am thankful for you optimism towards the game. I was hearing a lot of weird things in the community and unfortunately seasons is kind of a bad word in the gaming community to indicate battle passes. But it doesn't really sound like that based on some wording. But I wished they would have avoided using that word until April so they could have better showcased what it meant. Otherwise everything else sounds really good and I'm hoping for the improvements in the game. I do hope they introduce a scaling adjusting shrine for the overland difficulty because some players prefer the easier overland to chill and other players want a challenge to feel more engaged when they are doing the story quests (myself included because I can beat a bbg in every quest in about 5 seconds without even trying). If they did a full scaling overhaul I think it wouldn't go over well since it will defiantly alienate some players. A buff/debuff shrine with an increase in gold, rariety drops, and maybe some special motifs for doing the harder content would be great (need an incentive to do something harder). It wouldn't require a full overhaul just and adjustment to an individual players scaling algorithm when a certain buff/debuff is present. But we don't know much as to how they are planning to scale it yet so its up to speculation. I am very glad they are touching Cyrodill. I hated every second of doing my emperor run. Soooooo my freezes and dcs. XD

Yes, I agree! I think people are hearing seasons and assuming what it means. But I don’t think it’s a traditional season at all! Yes, a buff/debuff system would be great! I’m really hoping they do something just like you described, it would be perfect. Congrats on getting emperor, especially with the freezing! I’m also glad, I know Cyrodiil needs some work and I’m hoping this makes the pvp community happy! Thanks for sharing 😊

I'm so sad that after all these years we never got a Valenwood expansion or even a DLC. Wood elves are the only race that never got any content post launch. It makes me think maybe it's because TES 6 will be in Valenwood and they didn't want to make any conflicting content with that game, but that could be wishful thinking.

The vets have seen ZOS dangle the same carrot over and over again. His letter means nothing. It’s been a decade. There’s still performance issues. PVP is still rough. Endgame trials is on life support. All the main ESO streamers/partners have left the game. ZOS is so out of touch with its community. They’ve ignored player feedback for years. They care more about the bottom line than us.

Idk I think that they have tried to adapt and have listened to players. They do make improvements and fix bugs, but there are still a lot to go. If the game doesn’t make you happy anymore then def take a break and maybe you don’t play again 🤷🏻‍♀️ I know lots of vets that still play because they just love the game. I’m in the same boat and am excited to see what changes come, but everyone has their own opinion!

However when anyone reminds ZOS about the BS the pulled last time with their rewrite that turned into rethreading that magically faded away with no comment or acknowledgement.... They get a ban in the forums. So pardon me if my scepticism wins here. Also Craglorn started life as a very hard special area and everyone hated it so the turned it into what it is now. So there's that.

The letter sounds hopeful and I'm looking forward to it, even though April is quite a ways off yet. But I've been addicted to this game since launch so I'll wait. 😁 As the map is closer to being completed, familar faces and new quests with them would be great (Yes, Darian needs to stick his head back out again!) And I still want a higher ups head to roll for the blinding if Tovisa! 🤬 Anyhoo, new Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild content sounds super nice. Maybe quests from the guilds in new zones? At first I was paranoid as heck, but swapped to cautiously optimistic. Seeing the dark brotherhood up for first new guild content and argonian black mars datamine makes me hopeful we will see a small gold coast sized zone in bm focused on argonian andsithis. If we keep getting small zones I'll be happy but if we completely reuse old zones in a year.. they confirmed on the seasons are permanent sounds more like gw2 living world.

Yes, ESO plus will give you access to all previous DLCs! It’s also going to give you access to the new dungeons, they will not be available to purchase with crowns. I’m not sure how the pricing will work since this year is going to be different, but all past content is included!

Sorry to see what I consider one of most user unfriendly auction systems isn't changing. As a PvE soloer, I'm left screaming in zone chat to sell my goods. I don't mind, and quite understand, why certain areas and gear isn't available to me because I choose to solo. But not having access to the auction system is something I don't understand. It's as if they intentionally make the system inaccessible and onerous for soloers who, for whatever reason, don't want to guild.

Feels like they're going back to the 2014 model of releasing smaller updates with the occasional bigger chapter release. They are GOING to cash in on the 15 year anniversary for Skyrim in 2026, but otherwise it seems like they're sick of meeting hard biannual deadlines. Again, they just added some completely new systems recently, and they're planning on reworks and updates which WOULDN'T be happening if they were sunsetting the game.

I haven't played ESO for a while since Morrowind Chapter because I used to play on the Xbox One and I had a look at website just now. Wow, so many expansions. Gold Road Deluxe Collection has most of the ones I don't have. I play Solo because I don't have a headset with a microphone attachment. As it is hard for me to play in a group. My current headphones are suited for people with hearing problems which is perfect for me as it doesn't have any volume control. What do I look forward to now when playing ESO as a solo player?

One of my favorite parts about ESO is the story lines from each of the zones! Even as a solo player you can enjoy questing through each of the new zones! They also released the Infinite Archive which you can tackle as a solo player too. Welcome back to the game!!

Nefas quit the game. I think it explains a lot. The game appears in maintenance mode. There is no new content planned for 2025. The community shrinks. Everybody is exhausted by the ignorance, lies and greed of the studio

I will say that I was pretty shocked by what happened to Nefas and I’m glad that he shared. But I don’t think that the game is going into maintenance mode. They are a company and do have to make money. I’m not saying they are perfect but I doubt that they aren’t making new content and changes!

@Nessaeria What I think its really about, Zenimax taking off road maps is an answer to Valve saying that if developers do not deliver on roadmap promises they will give refunds. So the answer is simple, don't say what you are gonna release yearly so they don't force out a refund from you. Its really sneaky for a 2 billion dollar game.

I like the idea of going back and adding new content on existing zones. This does reduce their overhead on design. I hope we get the continued stories from some of the base game group dungeons that they had always promised. I do not look forward to seasons. I played Destiny and the FOMO and the short season cycles is why I stopped. I like being able to take my time and go through the content, also I don't have as much time to play as I used to. So any change that locks me out of content, gear, or loot because I couldn't engage with it fast enough will turn me off from the game.

@@Nessaeria We can always hope for improvements. This is their end of year letter. It is always full of promises that go unfulfilled. They promise to improve performance every year, but they show they can improve performance every year during Midyear Mayhem. They just flex up more servers and that fixes the issue. They just don't want to keep those resources in because it costs money they don't want to spend. They also promise to improve PVP every year at least and never do anything about it. I am trying to stay optimistic about the game but the way they are changing the content delivery doesn't indicate that it is to improve anything other than development costs. They mentioned a gear chase. I don't run end game content anymore because there isn't any reason to. The gear isn't much better than crafted or overworld sets unless you are looking at the support sets then it is worth it. The dmg sets you can get 5-8% more from as opposed to overworld and crafted sets if you are in an optimized group, if you aren't then it doesn't really matter you'll not see those marginal benefits. So what kind of gear is it going to be? It had better be impressively better or there isn't any incentive to it. Anyway I do hope they make good on most of what is written in the letter, if they do the game will be in a better place. However if we look at their past end of year letters they all read about the same.

@ well that’s a good point but I still think the craft bag is the main seller. You can get most of the DLCs included in a version of the latest DLC and if you play more than 6 months it’s more cost effective to buy that. The game is absolutely not pay to win, especially compared to other games. At the end of the day, they do need to make money. I know it’s an unpopular opinion but they aren’t making the game out of the kindness of their hearts. While I do think some things that have been around for awhile, like the imperial race, should probably be added to the base game, they need to monetize somewhere 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Nessaeria respectfully, at that point, your argument is "this game is designed for people with a heavy wallet." as you require to purchase the base game, purchase the chapters, purchase the DLC, purchase the 5 invintory space increase crowns store exclusive pack animals, purchase the dungeons, purchase the crown store exclusive crafting styles, purchase the Crown Classes, purchase the any race any alliance if you went into this game with a friend in a MMO because you wish to play your lore favorite or person favorite race unless it's imperial which you have to purchase exclusively, and then there's cosmetics and crown create specific items and on top of all of that purchase ESO+. (P.S. my definition of P2W is any item in a game where if you buy a item to allow an increase in power you cannot earn through skill and gameplay [Example: the minor buffs from Scribing, the powerful endgame Antiques that are area exclusive within the DLC locked content] and the DLC locked dungeon/trial gear to me seems a little to much monetization unless you compare them to Ubisoft and EA Loot Crates. But against a small company, say digital extreme, or even Phantasy Star Online 2 owned by the once giant Sega they monetize the game through mostly or exclusively cosmetics. I will not accept the argument of "its an expansion" if they don't actually treat the expansions as the full purchase alongside the monetized DLC Crown store Zones and the locked Classes.

This often goes on sale and is super affordable. There are so many zones, quests, and other things to do included with the base game that don’t require any of what you are saying. Sure, if you want to be the best PvP ganker, you might need antiquities or the newest DLC for the gear. Other than that, it’s not pay to win, just pay to look cute since the crown store is mostly cosmetics. @ I don’t know what happened with fallout 76, but they do have to make money. My hot take is that the crown store helps fund the game. And, unlike a lot of games, it’s not play to win it’s cosmetic. So if people want to pay money for a cool mount or house, then they should 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@Nessaeria I would be morally ok with funding them with my crown purchases if they weren't shameless scumbags. The issue with the store is deeper than mere cosmetics, pixel houses and scam-boxes. Check all the free in-game items that they're selling in cash store for hefty prices, that constantly scam new players who don't know any better into buying them. When I first started playing with a friend, we both bought inventory bags and skill resets because we thought "If it's in the cash store, surely it's not possible to get them for free in-game". We didn't know it was possible for a popular name like Elder Scrolls to be run by con artists that would use your common sense against you. I've heard many similar encounters from other new players later on, and I can only imagine how many clueless players they've fooled... they must've cashed in quite good over the years.

I think it’s going to be different from seasons we have seen from other games. I think it’s just going to be multiple dlcs a year instead of one big one. I think we will know more in March!!

@ iv been on hiatus for 3 years and only hopped in to test the new class and get my free house in those 3 years nothing not one single thing of significant improvement has happened, same butchered classes same buggy mess same copy paste end of the world story same crown store bs. Its a great game but the upper dev team are its greatest weakness

@ but you are right i will watch from afar with very little expectations because i don’t think zos has the will to do to the game what needs to be done a complete graphical overhaul new engine complete and total class rebuilds from the ground up and complete battle system overhaul and i do think consoles are holding it back

@@AveSinistra well as a console player, I would be sad to see it go only to PC! But it does sound like they are making updates to PC that console is not getting, so we will see! I don’t think the classes are buggy, but some of the content is for sure. I’m hoping that they do get some good bug fixes in this year 🤞🏻

@@Nessaeria Well, at least you actively respond to many messages here, that is more engagement with people than what ZOS ever does. :D To me it's funny some people still have faith in them, while they have NEVER kept any previous promises about performance etc for the last 7-8 times they made same promises. With that track record of zero times delivered.. how you still have faith in them? Honestly curious. :)

@ I feel that they have made good on some of their promises though which is why I am optimistic. Idk I don’t really play PvP which seems to be where the most grievances are, but I have been part of prog groups that moved on to something else because of bugs. But I still enjoy playing the game 🤷🏻‍♀️ every year they release new systems and content and I enjoy it. I have met people that are amazing in this game. So at the end of the day, eso has given a lot to me and I’m hopeful that I’ll continue enjoying it through this change!

@@Nessaeria Yeah i am what one could call "pvp main" but i also did all trifectas and hm trials. Cyrodiil felt abandoned content. So yeah i am disappointed about that obviously.
