End of Year Makeup Declutter | Clear It OUT!

Instead of buying an advent calendar this year I'm following a reddit DIY advent calendar where I try a different lip product from my stash each day... chosen at random by an excel spreadsheet 😅 It made me wear some lip products I knew I hated, but finally gave me the push I needed to declutter them! I think I'm at 5 decluttered now with a few more days to go 97 products is huge, that's so great that you can finally pass them on for others to use, or just even get rid of

I’m proud of you. Declutters are difficult. I don’t wear makeup (just like it as an art form) but I’m downsizing my art supplies at the moment. I’m not decluttering anything as such but I do have to make the tough decision of which supplies to use up and not buy again and which (very few) I want to continue using long term on the way to becoming a professional artist. Just the thought of saying goodbye to all the pretty colors (even the crappy ones with zero color payoff) is way more saddening than I thought it would be. But it’s better to be able to see and use the really good stuff than have it buried under crap I like to look at but hate to use. Thanks for the video and Merry Christmas!

I love watching yours and Kat's videos. They feel like I'm watching a friend and not a beauty blogger. Declutter videos are one of my favourite type of videos and it's really satisfying to watch them. My whole collection of lip products was about 15 pieces, so initially I kept 10 of them. But I got rid off of another 6 as they gone off or I finished them. Now I will declutter 2 more because one is almost finished and the other one I just don't use. I updated my collection with two new ones.

With nail polish thinner you can fix those polishes. It safely restores liquid, without harming the pigment. The best one for glitter polish comes in a squeeze-y bottle from Orly for $8 or so and it lasts a loooong time. Drop a bit under the stuck lid, by holding the nail polish bottle upside down, and then it will open easier, as well. (You can also wrap a rubber band around the lid and use that to help you get it open.) I collect nail polish, so I deal with dried up polish a lot. 99% of the time, it will be fine if you add thinner. Just letting you know, in case you want to keep the polish after all. :)

I've been on a no buy for the past 3 moths or so and that 's helped so much with decluttering. I hadn't planned to do a declutter, but as I'm trying to use all my products at least once, I've gotten rid of more things than I thought I could be without. It's refreshing and I don't plan on ever owning as much as I did ever again.

I find it so much easier to let go of things if I put them in Product Purgatory first - very occasionally something might make it's way back out, but it's extremely rare. I also hate colour-adjusting products of all kinds. They remind me of kid's make-up. Why do the lip things always go fuchsia?

The way you describe those lip scrubs is the way I feel about the Colourpop ones. (I got one and I hate it.) Also the WnW one is the same. I feel like I have to wash all around my mouth with a rag, so I may as well use a rag to scrub my lips anyway. The JS one is ok, but it's very crumbly. I think I prefer ones in the lipstick tube. I like the OG elf one (the brown one) despite the fact that it tastes nasty. At least it's not messy, and I just don't eat any of it. lol I hate dimethicone and my skin hates it too. I see so many hand creams with it in it and I hate it. (My hands get the driest) I avoid it as much as possible, especially on my face.

Very interesting video Hailey, as a matter of fact there’s a couple of things you decluttered I too about a month back did the same, like Too Faced Melt Chocolate and The Balm lip scrubs I throw out 4 of them as they were crappy looking and strange smell and I only brought them August when I got my tax return, so not happy at The Balms lip scrubs at all. 💕🌺💕

I do it the same way you do. I find that if know you’re not getting rid of something, that it’s not permanent, you’re more honest about how you feel about it. Once set aside somewhere else, if you haven’t missed it, haven’t searched it out, you know it’s time to give it the real heave-ho. ❤️ your videos, btw.

If you think it will work for you please go ahead! I've found it to be great because once these things are out of my drawers all I see are things that I know I enjoy and love using or things that I still haven't got enough use out of, there are never any feelings of 'hate that product' when I open my makeup drawers and it's really awesome! I loved decluttering from my drawers and I know people enjoy watching it but it's a real downer on me having makeup in those drawers that I know I don't enjoy. Hope you have a Merry Christmas! xoxox

I moved 2700 miles 2 months ago and i decluttered before leaving. I threw out at least 10 or 15 more items 2 weeks ago. I have to move again in 7 monthes so i am doing everything i can to use what i have and only replace when i need. My foundation declutter was ruthless. I found i only liked one foundation i owned and the rest were almost empty. When i moved my environment (previously 100% humidity year round, now we are lucky to get 30% humidity with it snowing) changed 180. Any foundation that worked before doesnt work now...except the maybelle matte and poreless.

Oooh, what an unexpected treat! ) Ps: I HATE color changing makeup (blushes, lip balms)... they are all so greasy, slippery! They expire super fast, most have weird smells and tastes as well, uuugh! I want a green or a blue lipstick, not a damn balm which looks cool and once on the skin is... underwhelming pink/coral. Don't tease me! Also hate bodycare with tons of crap like paraffinum liquidum and dimethicone, I thought Vichy and Aveeno were a good brand but for that price I want a better inci! That stuff is not good on my delicate skin. Now I'using only aloe vera gel and plain oils like almond oil and neem oil, with possible not added perfums, they make my skin soft and moisturized and in this way I'll save money: before I hoarded bath and body products with different scents.

try the bath and body works ultra shea body cream! its in the same tube packaging but soooo good! their moisturizing body wash (same tube packaging) is amazing as well, shea butter is the 3rd ingredient (preceded by water and a soap ingredient) and initially i was like whut, but tried it and found that it doesnt leave my skin stripped of moisture like normal shower products! my dry skin just loves them! just dont get the ones in the bottle (both the shower gel and body lotion), have not tried them but from the ingredients they look like your typical cheapy shower gels and lotions so its definitely not worth the price for me (bbw is soooo expensive!). get their moisturizing body wash, ultra shea body cream and fragrance mist in the same scent you love and damn you be in heaven! my favourite one now is their holiday spiced gingerbread swirl! ♡ also just wanna mention that ive never seen the gel one you have, have they discontinued it due to bad feedback or maybe just unavailable where i live? thanks for letting me know that it sucks lol.

I don't understand why so many more expensive brands have so many colour changing products. Like, I get it, a ten-year-old will be excited over a green lipstick turning into an obnoxious pink so it makes sense for a brand like essence to have some but most ten-year-olds won't get something in a higher price range. And colour changing products seem to be way too unsafe for someone older who actually wears make up regularly because your ph might be different on different days or just on your arm and face so you can't be sure with swatches, you can't see the colour you'll apply because of that and if it's a products that changes with the temperature you might end up with a grey stripe in your face.

I struggle with matte lipstick too! My lips aren’t even that dry. I can wear other lipsticks no problem. But matte formulas just dry my lips out too much and give me that LOVELY butthole lips look 🤦🏼‍♀️
