Don't feel foolish, Brenda. Just talk to Him. I like to start out by thanking Him for all He has done for me and especially for the blood of Jesus that was shed for all of us (Psalm 91 - prayer of protection; there is also a book out by Joseph Prince with the same title - it is awesome). Then I repent of all my sins and the sins of my family and ask for His strength to be obedient to His will/Word and to change me to make me more like Him each day. Then I pray for specific needs, for myself, others and for my country. I have found that as I talk to Him. the Holy Spirit leads me into areas I need to address. During these times we need to keep looking up and stay focused on Him and not looking around dwelling on our circumstances. He's in control of it all. God bless you, Brenda. Be well.
