I was reading the rulebook to make sure, but I think you have to leave the dice on the board until the start of each player's turn. So when you went to year two, you have to leave the Philanthropist's dice on the board, you only remove the Zoologist's dice at the start of its turn in that year, not all of them. Here is what the rulebook says, "Your dice will remain on the Actions until the start of your next turn, when you retrieve them to roll." This dramatically raises the difficulty of the game, and strategical.

That’s right, though I messed it up too on my first plays. It makes the game tougher, but makes the puzzle even better. I love it!

I was coming on here to make this same comment. And leaving the dice there certainly adds to the difficulty and strategy of the game. Though I still enjoyed watching this playthrough. Loved how he got into the characters/story!

Thanks for this playtrough. This was a good overview of the gameplay mechanics. But one thing: Place your mic somewhere else, because you breath into it from time to time and it is somewhat loud.

If I am not mistaken the characters need to alternate turns. The character that went last in a year, cannot start the new year.

You are correct. This is something we all discussed in the recent podcast on the episode. I like alternating in two player because it makes the dice placement more challenging over time, but Peter prefers to house rule it and pick a first player each year even in 2-player.
