It would be interesting to see reviewers do skew measurments, and print head movement accuracy. Most 3d printers wont move precisely 100mm when told to move 100mm cus the steps/mm isn't tuned. It's strange that printers are shipped out of tune. As he said in this video the E steps is not tuned either. The steps/mm is set close enough to get a print, but not tuned precisely. It gets kinda old seeing the same style review. Open box, do a couple of prints, and then end the video.
@FilamentFriday2 жыл бұрын
The CHEP Cube is a test print that helps measures this. Checking it for 20mm accuracy is one example.
@simplyengineering23502 жыл бұрын
@@FilamentFriday I was thinking more along the lines of how a machinist checks accuracy. Attatch a dial to the print head, then move the axis using the lcd, and then check the dial to see if it reads the same as the lcd. Measuring prints isn't the best way to determine if steps/mm is accurately tuned.

I've had one for a few months and love it. It's a second printer I got for fast prototyping, but I find I'm using it more than my bigger one with all of it's bells and whistles. The only mod I've done is a pei flex plate. Otherwise, it's working great.
@dangerous83332 жыл бұрын
It's faster then a regular ender 3? Edit: I read in another comment that it isn't that fast of a printer 🤷. If I could get some proof it's faster than my Ender 3s I would buy it immediately. I need a fast prototyping printer or I'm just building a voron 0.1.

@Dan Gerous not much faster. I run it at 60mm/sec, which is around where I run my e3v2, but I have that set up with a direct drive, and bigger fans so the print head shuttle is a lot heavier. By fast, I meant that I just print sections of a whole to check size and fit. I also just print pla on this printer, and it's next to my desk so I don't have to go far to tend to it.

100% agree with what you said around 7:40, one of my first mistakes many years ago was to go for as large a bed as possible thinking everything I make I would want larger but not thinking of realistically how long that would take, amount of plastic used, other complications with a larger machine, etc. This machine looks exciting as a secondary/spare printer with lots of upgrades out of the box, or for a first timer. Appreciate the review.

It just printed two little improvements the first week and that was it. My boss bought this printer for his son after I recommended it. Last week I installed it and here's my 2 cents: - Connecting the U frame at the top was tricky - there was very little tolerance for the smaller screw holes. I had to ask my boss to push on the top for the screws to go in. Once in, it was extremely rigid however. - The bed wheels were woefully adjusted. One was spinning free, the other was extremely tight. For a beginner, this can cause prints to look really bad unless they know how tight it should feel. - The bowden tube was damaged - it was deformed right where it inters the extruder. It was impossible to feed any filament through it because of this. I had to cut off 2 cm and re-insert it. This is a BIG no-no because a beginner will really struggle with this. - the bed was WAY too low compared to the Z-stop. Even if I lowered the Z-stop completely, the nozzle was still 3-4mm above the bed. I had to almost completely unwind the springs of the bed to make the bed reach the nozzle. I did not like that one bit because tighter springs = more stable bed levelling. So I removed the Z-stop, moved it even lower than the girder allowed (it's slightly tilted now but it works). This gave me the 3mm I needed. - Without any e-steps or PID I got perfect prints right out of the box after I adjusted the wheels & bed. - The flex build plate makes parts stick REALLY well but they also come off easily. I love the texture you get on the bottom of prints - The menu is very basic - no filament feeding that I could find for example and I see that as a basic feature to measure e-steps. I expected Creality to add more Marlin features like this by now. This is why I had to replace the mainboard in my Ender 3 Pro. Bottomline is: if you can get someone who knows his or her stuff to set this up, it's a good first printer. If you don't have such a person, you better be prepared to do a lot of tweaking because 3 big issues out of the box (damaged bowden tube, badly adjusted rollers & nozzle being way far off the bed) is enough to put anyone new off 3D printing and to just return the machine.
@Pippatis2 жыл бұрын
I just got this printer in the mail today, impulse bought it to serve as some extra horsepower since my first two printers are pretty much always running. Getting it out of the box, I experienced a few similar issues. The first two screws that you put into the z axis to connect it to the base were indeed quite small. I had some trouble aligning them, I actually had to angle one to even get it in. After that, though, all other screws went in pretty easily. Mine also had a damaged bowden tube, but luckily I had some spare Capricorn tubing in stock and had wanted to replace it anyways since I only really print in PETG. I don't actually think I would have noticed that it was so badly deformed if I hadn't removed it - Definitely could be an issue for a beginner. Mine also had a very strangely leveled bed, the two back corners were EXTREMELY close to the nozzle while the front ones were extremely far. One corner was so far from the nozzle that I almost worried I wouldn't be able to bring it up enough, but after bringing down the two in the back, I was able to level it pretty easily. Everything else, though, I'm really happy with so far! This little thing seems to be smarter than my Ender 3 Pro in a lot of ways, so I'm excited to see how it performs. I'm printing my first gcode, a benchy of course, on it right now.

Thanks so much for this review...This little fella is REALLY intriguing. Having something that is at least somewhat portable is a great idea for the odd tinkering session. Or a hacking / making weekend event in a location that has no making facilities. Unless the situation is very dire I would rather not move my current printer, let alone load in a car and bring it somewhere. Simply because of its size and weight. This Ender2 though...it seems pretty well made and it also seems that manufacturers finally have caught up with how to build a proper firmware image with features enabled that actually make sense. I do not usually follow current reviews because I want to rein in my GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) and might have missed many things in the past few years because of that. But those latest developments really seem to take FDM printers to a whole new level so everyone can get one and use it. The fact that you can just go and pick up a printer for less than 200 bucks that works nicely straight out of the box...that is pretty wild. I love it and I can see myself buying one of those in the next few months. My start in 3D printing has been rather bumpy. I have built my current printer basically from the ground up. Not something I would recommend doing if you have as much experience as I had bacj then, which was none. The printer I built has some residual Anet A8 DNA left in its stepper motors...for now. Yes, I actually had one of those creaky , wobbly and loud af pieces of junk that have set houses on fire and it nearly did mine too, but for other reasons not connected to thermal runaway (rather to me being an idiot). The machine became my "upgrade rabbit hole" to the point where it stopped being a "proper" A8 and became something different. I have had SO many issues and setbacks in the process, probably ran into every conceivable quirk and problem including one that made no sense at all and even left an engineer friend of mine stumped who is otherwise very well versed in 3D printing. Oh well....if you want a custom printer, be prepared for custom problems. He also remarked that a 3D printer is kinda like the Poor Man's classic car: there is always something to do, something worth tinkering with, to tweak and to optimize and it rarely sees actual use. I tend to agree with most of that. In the process which also involved lots of cussing and unhealthy amounts of coffee and junk food, I accidentally became reasonably well oriented in Marlin's internals. It was a rewarding experience with a pretty steep learning curve and lots of teachable moments, but by god it was frustrating at times. Still, now I have a kind of ugly looking Frankenprinter that works absolutely beautifully at least 9 out of 10 times and produces great results.

I think I paid $159 for my Ender 3 two years ago. Against the Ender 2 Pro, I like that it has a larger print bed and that the X/Z axis is supported on both ends. If anything, I wish the bed was significantly larger. The Ender 2 is definitely more portable, but the Ender 3's design makes it fundamentally more capable, and therefore more worthy of upgrades.
@alanfitzgerald90262 жыл бұрын
If some one likes the ender 3 for all the reasons you said, they may as well just justify spending more and buy a sovol or a kywoo. they are far superior in the fact they come with direct drive extruders, dual z axis, and if i remember correctly, bigger build volume. this Ender 2 is for some one one who wants a machine for more or less a specific purpose, as in they already know what build volume they need, and want something that will sit quietly in the corner and print away. I havent bought a printer yet ... But I know for several years, the original Ender 2 has to be the first (a 300x300 CR-2 or Ender 3 something would probably be second or I skip these completely and go for a Voron 2.4 right away.) *So if you have the chance to compare the new Ender 2 Pro to the original Ender 2 or an OG Ender 3 ... this could be fun!* Greeting from Germany!

I also purchased one of these when they were on sale about two months ago. It does work very well for my small projects, but anything that has a space between details on my model gets stringing. I have made every adjustment I have seen on line ( including yours of course)and I just can't get rid of the stringing.

i saw this and honestly i think its better than the ender 3 too, easier to level, cheaper, lighter, easier to move and I think 180mm3 is a good enough print volume

I wonder if the smaller bed also means it easier to manufacture them so they are actually flat - my ender 3 bed was always way off - only a glass surface helped

I had no idea this existed. If I could go back, I would purchase a small printer like this as my first too. Reading some other comments, turned me onto the kp3s, and THAT is an interesting printer... direct drive with a auto bed level option... But, realistically folks want a printer from a well known name for their first, and this is that. Honestly could be an E3V2 "killer", would love to see the market move to this as "THE" entry printer too... but before that can happen, it needs an ABL option...

Hey Chep, could you do a comparison video with the Prusa mini+, I bought a mini and like it but it was pretty expensive for the size. The reason I didn’t buy the 2pro was because the bed only went up to 80° and i only print asa for my business, could you maybe do a video upgrading the bed so it can reach 100°?
@FilamentFriday2 жыл бұрын
The Prusa is a better choice for what you describe.

Question about the nozzle/hotend. Is it the same design as an ender 3? and if so, can it be upgraded with the same parts (aka mk8 hardened nozzle and a proper bimetallic throat/heat break). Thanks! I want to get my first 3d printer but I don't have a lot of space, this seems perfect after seeing your review, I just want to make sure I don't overheat the ptfe, and I can print an abrasive PLA :)

Does this printer have a mounting point for a CR touch? Auto leveling would be so nice. Any good resources?
@FilamentFriday2 жыл бұрын
No. You’d have to print one. But I manually leveled it with my E-Leveler tool once and it’s bed level since. So I don’t see the advantage to autolevel on this.

I have an Ender 3 Pro which was working great until the board got fried (not sure how) so I'm getting it replaced, but I saw the Ender 2 Pro and at Microcenter for $129. Everybody is telling me that this printer is a beast, so I will be picking this one up and a second printer. Great review

@@mutlubasdas You should get it. I picked one up and it is a beast. I'm enjoying it more than my 3 pro. Put it together and I was off and printing. I barely had to level the board. For small to mid-size stuff, I do it on the 2 pro.

Update time! I got it! 😎 Actually my awesome girlfriend got it for me as our anniversary gift! ❤️ I'm loving it. Definitely a beast. I also added the 3 year warranty extension with Microcenter and since it was already at a discounted price, it came up to the MSRP with the plan. Took me 10 minutes to get it going, super easy setup and bed leveling, which I use a feeler gauge. And I also got the BLTouch just for the heck of it and will try it again tomorrow with the appropriate firmware and once I print the mounting bracket for it and see how it works.

ive started to buy the original ender 2 an after i seen this ive had it in my cart to many times to count but i have a kingroon kp3 an its pretty much the same printer except the kingroon has mgn12 rail for the y axis and it has a mks robin nano board an touch screen so i feel like its actually alittle nicer. they have a kp3s out now that is the same prices as the ender 2 pro but direct drive extruder mgn12 rails on both y an x axis an similar control board and display as the kp3.

Thank you for this review. I am thinking about a second machine, small one and besides the Prusa Mini this one seams much interesting. But... There is not only the Money thing. a. No PETG prints? b. According to TH3D there are 4.2.3 boards with 256K memory (RCT6) in Ender 2 Pro printers. Can you confirm that?

0:20 If there were any overarching consistency in Creality's naming schemes, this most definitely should've been called Ender-2 V2. Anyway, I do have this as well as the CR-30 on my list (both with a different hotend, but probably left stock beyond this), but a couple of Vorons (0.1 & 2.4, the latter with a few mods) rank higher and my budget is limited, so I'll get to those before circling back to Creality (and afterward would theoretically come my megaproject, but that'll likely remain a dream). Anyway, I am perfectly happy with my extensively upgraded/personalized Ender-5, so I ain't in a hurry.

50 mm/s on that small print does not matter if your accelerations are not set really high
