EA/DICE could apply to court for an injunction against any company hosting DF servers in North America. China would have no say in this, and nobody wants to play at +100-200ms ping on Turkish servers... I'm a lawyer and would go so far as to say I'm 90% certain they'll try to get this type of injunction. A billion dollar company paying 50k to potentially kill the competition - it's a steal.

It’s possible it was used internally as a placeholder for communicating the type of content they wanted in that section, and internal stuff leaked to prod. They probably wanted to recreate battlefields image with their own operator/skins. It’s fairly obvious they want their marketing to feel the same as battlefield, so it makes sense they’re studying and copying their competitors marketing.

I remember seeing a clip on Bilibili where a Tencent product manager (unrelated to Delta Force) admitted that ‘innovation is hard, and it’s much cheaper to follow proven, successful business models’. This philosophy seems to guide their internal practices. That said, if Battlefield wasn’t in such a miserable state, people wouldn’t be looking for copycat alternatives. In a way, EA also deserves some blame for this situation!

The thing is, they only copied the art style of battlefield 2042. They didn’t copy the terrible communication, gameplay design, gunplay issues, and AI problems… and the list goes on. Who cares if they copied the art style if they made everything else about it better? It’s like getting to play a version of 2042 that’s actually really good and free to play. Its not uncommon for Chinese companies to straight up steal things for their games. I was recently playing Once Human, and there was a cutscene that used BFV soundtrack. The game always sorta gave asset flip vibes, but to see theft happen so blatantly, and perpetrated by these big companies is something we are not used to seeing over here in the west.

Delta Force will be just like any other battlefield killer, World War 3 as an example. I think that after a few months the game will keep going with it's own player base. For me that's just a soulless battlefield copy, and if you know how timi monetize their games, shouldn't even be hyped for it.

I look at it this way, I love the way BF2042 looks and I do enjoy how it plays as well. But I also love that DF has all 3 modes that I'm interested in, so safe to say I'll be spending a lot of time on DF and if they're gonna be using BF2042 as a template I am perfectly okay with it. As a game designer and developer myself, its pretty common to use inspiration from similar games to the one you're making in your project. Including placeholders such as these. The only difference here is that they forgot to remove them before pushing the game to the public. This isn't anything 'bad' or catastrophic, just normal part of the development cycle of a game that people really wanna over-dramatize Plus, I'm happy that this game is similar to battlefield and i hope they take all their aspects and make them better. Dice needs a hard slap to wake up from its capitalist hole of milking its player base with their false advertising and shit game.

For the Chinese, copying stuff is part of their culture. They are not ashamed of it. They are kind of proud of it actually. The more the copy resembles the original, the better of a job they feel like they did. It is like that in every thing they copy, from electronics to clothing. Arena breakout and delta force copied tarkov and BF2042. Say what you want about the end result, better than the original or worse - still a blatant copy.

Chinese company has a loose handling of copyright and intellectual property? Not much of a surprise. But they should have more awareness when going to western markets. I agree that gameplay feels quite different, but the looks are very similar in several places. Also a lot of conceptual similarities, but then there aren't so many options not to repeat what others have done when doing a modern shooter. I don't mind that much that they copy or are heavily inspired by bf stuff, but why they chose 2042 despite its reputation as a core example. A modern bf4 copy would have made a better impression. But in the end, it's about gameplay. I don't like to skip over morals and ethics, but people are starved enough of a bf experience that they are willing to consume any option even if it has some questionable aspects. At least that is how i work.
