I kinda feel that it’s going to feel similar to 2042 but more launch content and no specialists. My biggest gripe with 2042 is the laser shooting and stiff animation gunplay. Also the enemy death animations suck and the atmosphere is awful.

Remember when Shroud said Dice completely ignored their feedback during the 2042 playtest? The CTE should already be up and running for playtesters to use. These playtesters should be long time players based on their playtime of previous BF games. Also there should be both an early alpha and a beta. The ones actually doing it correctly are Valve with Deadlock who have been playtesting the game with real fans for months prior to release.

My background is in academia, and I am sick and tired of this "Big data concept" where people know little about machine learning, physics-based neural networks (PINNs), AI, etc and pretend to know everything. It's too much dystopian, as you rightly said. Sometimes, an open community discussion and player feedback go a long way. See what Delta Force did by removing AI completely. That new Trenchline map trailer for Delta Force, at the start it gives that BF1 trenchwar vibe. But you are instantly taken back out of that vibe as soon as you see the Opreator clones over and over. Same shit as 2042's Specialist dribble. It becomes crystal clear that all DICE needs to do is make those tigher maps built for 64 players, standard classes, take BF3 and BF4 and use a BF1 gritty tone to make the battlefield feel war torn. They literally have everything they need because they have done it before. Just keep it simple, let Frostbite make it look pretty, but stop trying to invent the wheel. If you want to do something crazy, then give us maps that alternate from day and evening cyles to mix it up, that's it. Don't need a sand storm, hard rain or a fucking tornado.

If it's being playtested by some exclusive selection of twitch streamers and youtubers, it will lead to nothing. That is not their core demographic and will come nowhere near anything even close to any form of longevity. Also... bragging about how many studios are working on the game only spells "too many cooks" in my book. A profound singular vision that does not make - and that is what they need right now (IMO obviously). They need to stop copying other games and realize what it actually is that _they_ do that work, not others.

5:35 specifically with the player count, 128 was just hosed for modern conflict. I think BF1 would have been the only title that could have survived 128 players haha (like that infantry mode with bolt actions only.)

They outsourced their playtest to minimum wage contractors who probably never played bf3/4 during prime instead of going for community playtest via limited invites. This is neutral news at best. Probably to not risk wallstreet volatility because of leaks. They need to start community playtest NOW and if it´s bad they need to redo the whole foundation instead of doing surgery on a dead patient even if it means a 2 year delay!

I can imagine its tough to recreate the magic of what it was like creating BF from the beginning. Most of the OG devs probably lasted through BF 3/4. BUT 20 years have passed. Those 20-30yr olds are now 40-50. They have the experience, but if they stayed, they are now are in a senior management role. Lesson learned from my own business that has gotten bigger. You can't manage a company into greatness. You have to be invested at all levels with a care comparable to the founder(s). And renew that every single day

Heard it all before. BF started going downhill when they removed community servers where you actually had some control and choice over your game play experience. Getting dumped into some unbalanced server full of idiots getting steamrollered repeatedly doesn’t appeal to me. BF 4 is the only one worth playing right now where you get some level of choice regarding settings and map rotation. If they don’t build on this for the next game I’ll be saying goodbye for good.

The only game I've ever played by EA where the devs actually played and enjoyed their game was Titanfall 2, which was Respawn entertainment's doing. At 1:55 I got a bit of whiplash when you jumped from 2042 to Battlefield 1 there lol. The difference in graphics alone is shocking. You make a great point about data though, it's like a bandaid, and it can only fix small problems, but something like 2042 needed open-heart surgery. Data can help a good game become great through balancing and tweaking, but the game still needs to be "good" before any amount of data ever has a chance of fixing it. It's one thing to see that a gun is too powerful or too weak, but does the gun feel good to shoot? A map might have a heat-map made for it to show the zones where there isn't enough activity, or too much, but is the map fun to play on and aesthetically pleasing? If there is any data companies really should be watching like hawks it's the feedback from the players, but they just ignore it time and time again and focus on the things nobody asked them to focus on...

My worry with the feedback situation is. They're not going to be getting feedback from the peoples who opinions matter most. I don't want feedback from people who play Call of Duty and like Call of Duty. I don't want feedback from people who like 2042 or battlefield 5I want them to listen to the Feedback from the players. For the perfect modern Battlefield: * Immersive gameplay and graphics without sacrificing intuitive gameplay mechanics (looking at you BF1🤬). * Actually having a functioning scoreboard and a proper squad system. * Actual good movement like BFV's crouch sprinting, ledge grabbing, different prone stances and good pacing. But needs a better slide. * Assault/engineer/support/recon or BFBC2 style classes as well as all vehicle types like naval combat from BF4. * 64 players, maybe, just maybe 100 (if they can) for the new BR that's most likely coming (Firestorm was actually pretty good). * Extensive and fun destruction that affects gameplay in a good way (insider leaks like caliber based destruction). * Don't reinvent the wheel like Max said. * Grittier experience, like realistic voice lines, visualizations/effects to how everything in the world of the game reacts to the character on screen (like mud or dust on weapons/clothes after blowing up a house or wet when exiting water etc etc). * No annoying overly colorful skins or anime skins or over the top skins in general. * Bring back dogtags and assignments or something similar. * Remaster some good classic maps from older games. * Have a decent campaign (most people don't care but I do). * And for the sake of keeping that tiny reputation left of EA and DICE, have a CTE like BF4. Love your content :)

Data driven game design removes all heart and passion from a game. It pisses me off because the biggest trends in gaming weren't made with data. It was made by developers willing to experiment on something that is new because its enjoyable, not by squeezing every last nickel and dime out of gamers to chase trends that were set by other games.

Here’s what battlefield needs to do 1. Remove the specialists no one likes them and their lines are terrible. 2. Add back destructive events like battlefield 3 - hardline they were very cool to see and they make the maps more immersive 3. Better movement: the movement in 2042 is not good if you make the movement like battlefield 4s movement it would be a lot better 4. Better maps the maps in 2042 were bland if you make the make more like battlefield 3 - hardline it will have more of a war feel and reduce the amount of roof and corner campers 5. Add more maps to the game it makes no sense why there are only 13 maps in battlefield 2042 compared to battlefield 1 which has over 20+ maps for players to play in. 6. Add a campaign fans love the battlefield story’s and I feel like if yall created one in battlefield 6 it would be amazing if you guys put effort into the story 7. Better graphics the graphics in 2042 are bland if you guys enhance the graphics it would look so much better

I mean they've proven time and time again that they will either flat out IGNORE player feedback if its given or implement that feedback so glacially slow that it hardly matters to the product because everyone will tire of the issues and move on before they can get around to said feedback. Also trusting Dice with playtests when they're decision making from the ground up has been universally questionable at best for the last decade is not something any intelligent gamer should be willing to do at this point. You can do everything and take in all the feedback in the world but when your dev studio doesn't know how to convert that into something meaningful it hardly matters now does it?

THE DATA has ruined gaming indeed. In payday3 was have a skill that give you back bullets of you do quick kills. It was insanly popular in Payday2, it was in the main trailer for pd3. It was marketing material. Well, the DATA said that 75% of players used it. So they tried to delete it. This resulted in a huge crisis in the community and destroyed the youtube partner program because youtubers told them to not do it when told before about the change. But hey, THE DATA said it was picked too much so lets ruin the game and its community.
