LOBSTER WAR is an award-winning feature film about a climate-fueled conflict between the United States and Canada over waters that both countries have claimed since the end of the Revolutionary War. The disputed 277 square miles of sea, known as the Gray Zone, were traditionally fished by US lobstermen. But as the Gulf of Maine has warmed faster than nearly any other body of water on the planet, the area's previously modest lobster population has surged. As a result, Canadians have begun to assert their sovereignty, warring with the Americans to claim the bounty.

Actually I would argue the exact opposite big females eat as many as they make lol sw nova proves that keeping them does not affect the population. Letting v notches and Eggers and tinkers go is what you need to do.

Not sure why it was stated "the World's Richest Fishing Grounds" in the title. There's LFA zones in the Gulf of St Lawrence where lobster fishermen are slaying them, as in 100,000 lb landings in 10 week seasons. Lobster biomass seems to be moving north. Gaspe region (LFA 20) top dog now.

@@Hanibul_Lecktor . Sure they are . Washington county in Maine alone landed 23 million lbs in the most recent data annually. , that includes both ,as Maine doesn’t track landings specific to the Gray Zone. The Department of fisheries and oceans track Canadian fishermen landings. Less than 50 fishermen fish the Gray zone. I can just imagine someone believing less than 100 fishermen landing 150 million lbs. Whats that ,like 1,5 million annually? Lolololololol.

1621 land grant from Sir William Alexander, founder of Nova Scotia, who claimed that any island within six leagues of Canadian coastline would be declared part of Canada. 1783 when the British and the Americans signed their divorce papers, a.k.a. the Treaty of Paris. Under the generous terms of that treaty, the newly independent U.S. was granted sovereignty over all islands within 20 leagues (69 miles, 111 km) of its shores, unless they were previously part of Nova Scotia.

Video says the waters in question are in "NovaScotia"... they should do a little research before producing this video... Grand Manan is in New Brunswick... NS not even close.

When American tariffs shut down the wood industry on the west coast of canada it also shut down hundreds of communities. Many many people lost their jobs and have never recovered. Before pointing fingers and being petty please consider coming to a peaceful resolution. It would be awful to see the same things happen to the lobster industry as it did to the wood industry.

Lobster fishing seems to becoming over fishing. Sooner or later all the lobsters will become extinct in the Grey Zone. No limits on the catch seems to have been set. The more lobsters get pulled out from the Grey Zone, the faster the lobsters deplete to nothing. Like any other bounty of seafood around the world. Sooner or later there will be non. Any town on both sides of the Grey Zone will die lobster fishing will be no more. It happens every time Man over does hunting or fishing every thing that they over hunt or over fish become on the brink of or is extinct and it is the primary fault of greed. Aloha!!!!
