Skyloong, Haimu, and WS all not only have two holes at the bottom, but also use the same non-rubber silencing mechanism on their silent switches. All three brands being made by the same manufacturer is a good bet! I never noticed the holes, good call!

Great roundup! I havent used a mechanical keyboard since a cherry G80 20 years ago. The noise made me return to membrane keyboards for office abd home office use (my gf and me share a large wooden table for work). Yesterday, i have ordered a keychron v1 and WS silent linear switches to get a rather cheap and silent mechanical keyboard with little time invested. Lets pray its silent enough to not drive my partner and colleagues mad 😅

Great review as always: it's crazy how cheap good switches have become. On the other end of the spectrum, would you consider checking out the crazy expensive Zeal Pearlios? I've bought a couple of batches and they're super smooth, but it'd be good to see a proper objective review.

@@mr6291 Yeah, the current switches I have aren't really that loud and is generally carried by the long poles (Aflion Blue Sky) and since I prefer higher pitch clack, these are going to be so awesome on this board I imagine. I can't wait, when I first heard the sound test, this was the first time that I was actually hearing the switch be the forefront of the sound without it being a clicky and is complemented well by the board and is so unique as well.

@MakerMods
@MakerMods Жыл бұрын
I think that’s hard only because not everyone owns the same boards, but also… Even with the same setup, room acoustics, desk surface, etc. all play such a big role in sound, not to mention microphones, signal chain, etc. that’s why I try at least to use the same board in all my sound tests, so you can at least compare the results to my other videos. I also tried out several mics and chose the configuration that I thought sounded closest to what my ears are hearing through my reference monitors, but then I watch on my TV and it sounds nothing like that. Haha! I guess… it’s important to take all sound tests with a huge grain of salt for that reason!

What would be the definition of a hyper tactile? Higher spring resistance, thus more of a bump? Or am I really off with that definition
@MakerMods
@MakerMods Жыл бұрын
In my mind, although there’s definitely not too much standardization of terms, tactiles can be subdivided into light, medium, and hyper? Haha. Light being something like a cherry Mx brown or kailh pro purple; medium being any holy panda, and hyper being switches with a large tactile bump/event like the boba u4t, zyko, etc. for reference, holy pandas when they were first made were considered “very” tactile, but companies have blown past that level of tactility with their stem and leaf designs. Also IMHO OG holy pandas are more tactile than the newer variants with BSUN pandas, but that could just me trying to rationalize that OG is better, haha! Hope this helps!
