Ahh yes another tactical pattern 🤩 Amazing game yet again! Struggling to keep up with the daily uploads 😂 Kudos to you for providing us with so much instructive content!

Nice video. I really like your calculation chains and thinking about opponents moves on their time. I'm nowhere near that and it's something I want to improve this year. Most of the time, you exhaust all reasonable candidate moves. Aside from a non-native speaker: I had to google "on the cards" because it sounded so strange to me having learned American English and being used to "in the cards". So I suppose I learned a small tidbit of British English :)

Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed and hopefully it helps you improve your own game! Haha yeah British English has a lot of subtle differences to American English, especially since I'm from the countryside 😅

At 35:53 not Bc5, which you played instantly since you preprogrammed it not looking for another move. Always rescan when it is your move. Simply defend the bishop with Rb3 winning the pawn. Btw he played h4 to stop g4 which attacks the queen as you pointed out. I think the knight move is only marginally better, but in answer to another question the computer likes the line for white it suggests because even though black is much better the horrible light square white bishop is gone. Imo.

Yeah I'm not sure why I didn't consider Rb3, was probably more straightforward but i kinda tunnel visioned on Bc5, also great to see you back on the channel Roberto!

@ChessCenturion Sure. Well, it was a won game anyway, so you just relaxed. With chess I just started playing again and with good results but sometimes I get lazy, and my brain does not want to work so I take a break from chess. Cheers! I play more in the wintertime, since I can't play golf, I come back to chess.

And funnily enough when I tried to play a true Pirc they just go with 3.Bd3 intending to play c4 which is more maddening
@ChessCenturion13 күн бұрын
Hahaha I can't blame white players for trying to move order black into the opposite of what they seemingly want. Maybe just better to learn both?
@tong_thanh583713 күн бұрын
Again you let them move order you into a Pirc, which would be frustrating for someone who plays something else against 1.e4. As a result, the plan of 1.d4 d5 and that of 1.d4 Nf6 in many chess courses coincide, which the latter forces an immediate d7-d5, when dealing with the Veresov and Jobava.

Yeah I just don't like the d4 Nf6 Nc3 d5 Bf4 Jobova lines really

Thank you for the extremely informative video, Alex. I have been playing the Pirc and Czech Pirc as black for several months now, and it's been a reasonably solid opening for me. I'm not gaining much elo, but I do feel like I've gotten better. It has forced me to consider both tactics and strategy, and I think that has been the key to my improvement. Although, I still make too many mistakes due to poor board vision at times. I am interested in learning more about other openings for black, and the Caro-Kann seems like it might be a good fit for me. I know this one is your specialty, so do you have any advice on how to proceed without falling into early game blunders due to trying to play it against openings designed to counter it?
@ChessCenturion11 күн бұрын
I think the Caro Kann Is incredibly solid and typical traps can often be avoided through understanding the Caro Kann quite deeply rather than surface level memorisation. I think my videos on my Caro kann playlist do a good job at diving deepn into the ideas that can help you to properly understand rather than just memorise the main lines and fall victim to trappy sidelines. Hope that makes sensem

Endgames wreck my brain, but there's no way around it. Just have to learn the patterns. On a different note, are you aiming to become a titled player OTB Alex?
@ChessCenturion13 күн бұрын
Hey man good to see you back in the comments! I think pattern recognition definitely makes endgames much easier to navigate. I may try for FM or NM but I'm not sure I want to have to put in the insane work required for that tbh

my only gripe is your obsession to get every word in edgewise at the expense of all of your time and leaving me wondering when you will ever make a move which loses my attention. being more logical with your time makes you more interesting and then you can make your points after you move
@ChessCenturion12 күн бұрын
Yeah I absolutely see your point, I'm trying my best to balance explanations and actually playing the game so I'm working on it - appreciate the constructive criticism!

@ It’s not like you are the only person who does that, there are some very well known guys who are known to do that often.
