@Christoper Putt Yet put yourself in his shoes and there isn't much else to do. The whole point is he knows what you are saying is true. He is self hating and desperate to make up for it, deluding himself into thinking he should destroy it all to go back, that no one currently alive is worth anything because it isn't his people. But being an open mind, a friend who will be there for him despite your origins and his clashing, or in the best case scenario, romancing him as a female elf, you make him snap to reality and realize throughout your journey he has grown to be somewhat fond of everyone. That you as a paragon give credit to everyones existance. You make him not realize he's wrong, but just how terribly incorrect he likely is. Yet he can't stop. So now he'll not just do what has to be done, he'll do what has to be done with inner turmoil, and sorrow. Destroy everything to go back, but kill the people you've just fought along side to help save their world, or so they thought. Now these people are worth saving to a degree. I like it, anyways. Makes for a good story. I don't hate any of the characters as they are playing their parts in said story. Your story may have you punching solas and putting him on the twirl your evil mustache path, but mine will be a true friend or a lover with inner turmoil. Ahhhh the wonders of an rpg. We get to make decisions :3

@Christoper Putt I don't think you and I are on the same page as to what was being debated here. I understand what you are saying and agree. I am not saying Solas is right, and his plan is good. He says so in the beggining "I never said it was a good plan." He is aware he is evil, and wrong. But he deludes himself with the hope of just getting his people back. It's a typical villain angle. I am simply arguing that he shouldn't be hated by us players, but sympathized with and enjoyed as a character. So let me make it very clear what I think about him, you are right. He has a once again shortlived plan, there is a dialogue that can happen between Solas and Bull that has them playing mental chess, in which the game is a perfect anology for both Solas and Bull. Solas sacrifices anything to get the single win, except it is only credited as excelent for a game of chess, where only the single victory is important. He sacrifices his queen, his people, everything just to secure the victory, but in terms of the future he has nothing left to rule. Aka losing his elvehn people. He is wrong to do what he's doing. He is simply grief stricken and desperate is all, and I hope or wish that you enjoyed his character as I do. It saddens me to see so many people genuinely hate Solas. As I think it is short sighted. People are allowed to feel that way, obviously. If you feel he really does slight the world in such a pure way. After all, we make him into one way or another. Solas regrets, or Solas doesn't. That will likely be the big if/and/or for the next game. God I'm excited to see his characters conclusion. I'd love if he could be redeemed.

This started with me saying I felt you were a tad unfair to the egg head, but you are the one who started the debate about his actions and what not being wrong or right. So... no, we don't just have different opinions, lol. I mean we do, yes. But that's not what I was ever on about. Anyways, As I stated. I hope you at least enjoy the actual writing of the story and character... that's what I was on about. I did however yes, finish do to what you were talking about, by stating that I wish you liked Solas as a character. Which still wasn't about whether he was right or wrong, lmao. Now, if you wanted to say you think Solas is poorly written. That, my friend, is where we would have a disagreement. Or differing of opinions. I like the tradgedy of it, it has some solid writing and his inclusion in the party to end up as the villain has me feeling like I'm sitting and playing D&D with my friends, and we all made characters with steryotypical secret backgrounds and what not. Cole and Solas are great examples of that type of character. I mean, I had a group where I was a mind flayer and a person in the group could see through my mask of many faces concealing me, but he chose not to just tell everyone and confront me personally. Kind of like how Cole chooses not to expose Solas because as a spirit of sympathy he feels Solas' despair and wants to heal it. It was fun talking about Solas though, this game feels kind of dead atm. Probably do to all the failed games coming from the company but eh, still. Glad to see people are passionate. :3

His gift was removing the vallaslin which happened right after Abelas in the Temple of Mythal told Lavellan she is not of his people, and mocked the dalish for being shadows in the forest wearing markings without knowing what they mean.

GAH! I love them all so much! I think Sera will always be my favorite though, and both Iron Bull and Dorian share second. I just love my characters sarcastic, funny and chaotic. Is it odd, though, that two of those characters are 100% gay and one is bisexual? Not to say I don't like the straight characters, I mean Cullen's the man I'd pursue in real life if these guys ever existed, Cassandra is a complete badass who loves smut (bonus), and of course there's Solas and Blackwall, but... They just aren't as friggin' FUNNY! Plus, Solas is the biggest heart-breaker in the lineup. Sera's a free-spirited anarchist, Dorian's an arrogant ass-hole and Iron Bull is the most blunt bastard in the game, I love them!

I actually don’t mind the Solavellan ending. It’s kinda sad when put in context with the rest, but when seen on it’s own it kinda feels like the Inquisitor is finally able to take a moment to her damn self and take a deep breath without having someone needing her help or trying to kill her for the first time since she became the Herald. Yes, Solas disappeared, yes he broke his promise to explain his reasons for breaking up with her (at least in this moment it seems that way, we all know by now what happens in Trespasser) but she also just defeated Corypheus and lead the Inquistion to victory without his love. So in the end, did she really even need him? The dude that - even though he supposedly truly loved her - strung her along the whole time and was kind of toxic? To me, the Solavellan ending shows how strong Lavellan is on her own. …At least this is my own interpretation, and what I tell myself to stop being sad about the whole thing. LMFAO

ThingMaBobJimmy I've actually never done a speed run (I love the interactions way too much XD), but that's what other posters in KZbin told me (like FluffyNinjaLlama). Don't ask questions (the ones with the ? in the dialogue wheel), press skip (it's X for the Xbox 360) during cutscenes/dialogues, don't do the side quests (particularly the Shards quest because it takes too much time [also unless it's romance-related like Bull's Necklace and Dorian's Amulet]), get enough power to JUST get into Main Mission areas, manually control the time options of your console for War Missions (or don't do them even). If you do speed runs for each romance at 5 hours per paramour, you'll be playing roughly, 40 hours... give or take. For the thing where Dana shows each option in the dialogue wheel, it's the standard save/reload. XD

I know Josaphene (or however you spell her name) and iron bull are also available for men, but I feel like the female character had a lot more choices (4 double the males if you don’t include the two bisexuals) I understand they’re trying to reach a new audience, but why not give both genders the same amount.
