A nice detail about this film is that instead of using Springfields their using 1917 enfields which were actually more common.

Hi. I am a firefighter on petrochemical factories. Yes flamethrower in WW1 did in fact explode. Because the explosive mixture is kept in a single tank. Is this tank a bit empty the explosiveness of the content only increases because of the oxygen. In WW2 I believe the tanks were seperated and the mixture was only there if the guy pulls a trigger. But if you should the top it would depresurise the gas making the tank a torpedo.

I blame "Saving Private Ryan" for the shakey cam in combat effect. Now it seems all combat scenes have to be shot in shakey cam - I guess to make it seem that he combat is being filmed on the spot or some such illusion.

@Johnlaplander6 жыл бұрын
Jedi Knight buckley, actually this movie was completely inaccurate to what actually happened in real life, they were trapped 6th a small pocket for 7 days with the germans on all sides of them including behind them and on the final day the final day, they were so low on ammo, food, medical supplies, tools, etc. that they had to lay on the ground and been in with their dead so the germans wouldn't see them when they moved in... the germans saw the men who couldn't hide in time and either burned them or shot them... then all the men came charged and killed the german advancement, and at the end of that day, the American forces had caught up with them and they were relieved... in the end, around 9000 men went in to the pocket and 2, 350 men left, including the people who could walk out in their own, some had to be carried or helped. The reason I know so much about this is Because my dad is the leading lost battalion historian in the world. He wrote a book with about 700 pages all about this battle. His name is Robert Laplander. Look him up... (and by the way, the shaky camera was supposed to be there, it's a war film thing)

@@TheOlesarge Typical comment of a USA-fanboy. Nearly all US war movies glorify US, easy to spot. Germans are portrayed as incompetent and Americans as couragous fighters slashing everybody down. Yeah right that is real history right? Lol
@Epicesify5 жыл бұрын
@@MrC00kieM0nst3r if youre talking about the men, they were all from the slums and mostly hungry immigrants and workers who likely knew a thing or two about fighting, if youre talking about the battalion this is (as I really hope you know) based off a real battalion whos name I cant remember. They were here because they were the only force in the area to actually advance to their objective. The french on one side failed their assault and retreated and I believe the americans on the other side couldnt break through either. This movie constantly shows poor decisions on the american generals part and especially poor artillery fire considering they take quite a few shells themselves. This movie isnt showing bullshit American pride (Im an american) its showing legitimate baddasses who fought off the germans against all odds and not only became a thorn i the side of the germans but also allowed the allied forces to punch through to their position and continue the advance.
@dustypluskrat74235 жыл бұрын
The directors could’ve atleast had the Germans fight more authentically, the stale generic charge the Germans executed allows for us to portray the American actors as heroes but if the Germans were shown as having a tactical advantage and superior logistics, it would make the American stand even more glorious. All in all, it makes it look like America got an easy victory in this little skirmish. Look at SPR, Miller and his squad landed on an exposed beachhead and had to traverse 100 or so yards of open ground under a swathe of machine gun and artillery fire. Where they eventually scale the bluff and clear out the trenches it emphasizes the losts they sustained and makes the capture seem even more worthy. Since we the audience know the Germans had the superior position and firepower(at least on the beachhead itself). If you can reply can you please tell me what type German soldiers the ‘Lost Battalion’ faced. I feel like they area Pionier Regument judging by their flamethrower and static fighting positions.

Ansett Lee, A clip is used to load a magazine. The magazine is inserted into the magazine well of the pistol. The pistol is then loaded from the magazine.
@eriklehman57825 жыл бұрын
I can see it being possible if there was already a round chambered when the magazine was loaded thereby giving him 9 rounds instead of 8. But to be honest, this was a historical drama shadowed by Band of Brothers and therefore probably didn't have the budget to get everything accurate. In fact the part where one man says "bastards! You bastards!" was used once before when the lost battalion was accidentally shelled by their own artillery.
