The point of keeping rules is just cringe if we think from our point of view. But then you're misunderstanding the meaning. When they say no one below 18 should get married, that doesn't mean that anyone at 18 should get married. It's to reduce the crimes such as child marriage and someone must draw a line somewhere. I personally find the legal numbers cringe because at the end of the day, it's in the individual hands, when to do and what to do, but then those numbers aren't for us. This dad reminded me of my dad, he sits on the bus with me like that too, and accompanies me everywhere as much as possible. To tuition classes, hospital, a school competitions whatever it is, he rarely doesn't come and when he doesn't he gets scolded by mom, and then I defend him bc it's once in a long while.
