I got confused on one part of the movie(sorry if I don’t word this right) but when sakuta was waiting by the light to see if he was going to get hit by the car, did shoko purposely lead him to the crash because that’s where she wanted to met at the enoshima lights or was she trying to lead him away in some way and if so how then, I need details please
@mpgow4 жыл бұрын
Brian Lopez she was trying to save him by trying to trick him into going to somewhere other than the Enoch ima lights because that’s where the car crash would be
@Chitos254 жыл бұрын
Mpgow but if that was the case then why did she and mai both say they wanted to go there if that’s the place the crash was going to happen, that’s what I’m kinda confused about
@Chitos254 жыл бұрын
Mpgow and also at the end of the movie when they take a stroll through the beach, does mai not have all her memories of sakuta? Because she acts like she doesn’t remember the times they spent
@mpgow4 жыл бұрын
@@Chitos25 I explain the car crash scene and why they both choose the two places, please watch that part again, and try pausing at the parts that confuse you. For the second comment, not everyone keeps their memories exactly the same. Instead, every character experiences different 'dream effects', where Sakuta remembered moments through dreams, and Mai was influenced to play a major role in a movie about a girl waiting for an organ transplant.
@grootkenn25394 жыл бұрын
To make is simple, the whole anime movie and series are just a future simulation dreamed by the 4th grade Shoko. So it is safe to say that the present time is stucked in the 4th grade Shoko dreaming plus trying to finish her homework. (Remember the Anime movie.title has "dreaming girl" in the last part). Because Shoko's puberty syndrome is a combined Koga Tomoe and Rio Futaba's syndrome. The 4th grade Shoko is scared of growing up because shes scared of dying, but part of her wishes to grow this causes her body to split. The Shoko who was afraid of growing up ended up moving forward in time faster due to the theory of relativity. She can move freely in any timeline from depressed Sakuta 2 years ago to Sakuta 2 years later. Note: The whole series is neither present or real because it is just a simulation of the 4th grade Shoko due to her Puberty syndrome. Again; the present is with the 4th grade Shoko dreaming her future. Later on, Sakuta also suffered in the same condition with Shoko since he was in a huge dillema and he too is scared of moving forward because one out of three should inevitably die: Shoko, Mai and Sakuta. In order to fix everything, Shoko redo everything and went back to her 4th grade self, answered he assignment which causes her not to develop Puberty Syndrome and avoid meeting Sakuta. She know how to avoid this because she know the future. So all the events simulated by Shoko in the future became a dream. It ended up in reality that Sakuta have been seeing Shoko via dream. So when he saw Shoko, he recognize her. Edit (additional): The whole thing we saw in the Anime series have all become the reality of Mai, Sakuta, Kaede, Nodaka, Tomoe and Futaba (Which means everything happened for real). Everything happened except for the meeting of Shoko and Sakuta. Every memory that Sakuta had about Shoko in simulation have become a dream. To sum that up, Sakuta dreaming about Makinohara causes him to go to the same school with Mai and Futaba (Then everything in anime series fall into place). Its really sad that Shoko Makinohara had to sacrifice and forget her memories for Sakuta and everybody's sake. Salute to this best girl Shoko Makinohara.

@@mpgow @Mpgow can you clarify one thing for me: Because the movie and anime series all played in the future simulation of fourth grade Shoko who is in the present, does that mean that all the things which have happend in the anime (or also: simulation) also happend in "new" real world aka present time line then? Because Mai and Sakuta are in love again and Kaede being afraid to go to school as a result of the the cyberbully give me hope that all the anime series wasn't just "a forgettable dream" or a "fade memory". What I just want to know is if the stories and plot of the anime series has also happend in the new present at the end of the movie, in which Shoko is healthy and alive. Because i can't sleep well thinking that the couple might have lost all the memories and friends and achievements gained over those 13 episodes , therefore only having each other left. Sorry for the bad English.
@mpgow4 жыл бұрын
@@audentesfortunaiuvat287 Don't worry, it's a happy ending! You're correct when you say the series played out normally. You see, the 'dream effect' on Sakuta influenced him to do everything all over again, just without needing to meet college Shoko at the beach to guide him. So yes, everything is as usual, just the meeting of Shoko is moved to that Winter.

Actually, after re-watching episode 1 and the movie sign in the train, I wonder if Shoko Makinohara will become an actress like Mai Sakurajima because it was Mai's performance that saved her life by generating enough people to become a heart donor. (The movie states that the film was so moving that people cried when they saw it so it's the equivalent of the "Top Gun" effect for organ donors which is possible since in HK and the East they do tie in movies for charities and the stars do it pro bono).

I just finished watching the movie and immediately searched up for the explanation because i thought this movie was too good that i should be able to perfectly understand the timeline and stuff so that i could appreciate it more. And you did just that, your explanation was excellent, i thank you so much. . . There is, however, something that i'm still confused about. If the actual "present" was the one in which shoko was only a 4th grader, and the 7th grader shoko was the manifestation of her adolescent syndrome (which was her being anxious about her future), then why was even there a college girl shoko to begin with?
@mpgow4 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question! And I think this post below has a good explanation about what Shoko’s adolescent syndrome is: www.reddit.com/r/SeishunButaYarou/comments/e7zwmn/comment/fa8x7sb hopefully this helps!
@grootkenn25394 жыл бұрын
So when she saw Shoko, she recognize her.

One of the parts that I wish they included in the movie is that when Sakuta meets the Shoko with Mai's heart (the Shoko after the accident) they never explain that she is actually from a future where she marries Sakuta. It's a beautiful moment in the light novel and really hits you in the feels when you realize that despite that future she gets to live with the one she loves, she denies stripping the joy that Mai gave him and still returns to make things right.
@maskednil2 жыл бұрын
Holy shit! Why did they leave this part out!?!?!?!
@nvick_232 жыл бұрын
I have no idea tbh, I honestly was holding in the pain when Sakuta notices Shouko's wedding ring. This single act is why I can see Shouko truly competing with Mai as waifu of the series. Of course though Mai is simply best in my eyes since I get to witness how she loves and expresses herself.
@mikexhotmail2 жыл бұрын
Wow. Really glad to know this. Oh by the way was the ending is planned by Shoko all along? I mean she surely try 10000 of scenario but it didn't work then she gave up and decide to sacrifice herself then accidentally found out that by finished that homework finally there is a timeline where all of them will be alive and meet again at the beach? ps. People tend to believe that by finishing the homework she will not gain the ability to simulate the alternate timeline so she doesn't know the outcome and only accept her fate but since she sent back her memory to her younger self can't that knowledge make her able to simulate the "let see what happened if i finishing the homework" also? Or the Author really explained that Shoko truly sacrifice herself but luckily this new timeline is happened to be the one she stays alive
@nvick_232 жыл бұрын
Well it's explained in the following light novel more thoroughly why Shouko lives, it's only hinted at in the light novel she's featured in. Since everyone has fading memories of all of their timelines, middle school Mai had decided to star in the movie where she plays the girl with a heart disease (because she made the choice to save a life through organ donorship in the previous timeline) rather than that scary movie that really made her famous back in the day. In her choosing the heart disease movie, it inspired more people in Japan to sign up for organ donorship programs and that's why Shouko ends up getting someone else's heart rather than our main cast. So you could argue that Shouko indirectly saved herself but it was really that since she had made such a heroic impact of Sakuta and Mai that she deserves to experience the joys that is life and be over her adolescence syndrome. It's not some high IQ play, moreso the author believing that these characters shouldn't suffer such sad fates when they went to the ends of what they could do to help people that they care about.
@nvick_232 жыл бұрын
Shouko's timeline to me is the peak of this show/LN Series. It's something that has so much genuity I haven't found in a series before. You can really feel that the majority of the characters would straight die for their friends and the others that they love. I believe it's more impactful in a setting like this where we aren't in mystical/fantasy setting where death is a huge common occurrence. It personally makes this all the more impactful to me. This series is very impactful for me, I can't wait until all of the light novels are released in English. I want to be able to really judge if any of the BGS arches come close to the character development and expansion that is the Shouko arch. Anyways, enough of my rambling lol. Hopefully my comment(s) were helpful.

T_T The future Sakuta telling Mai that he will sort it out and to wait for him made me shed another tear because he did what he said he would do in episode 1 if she was about to break down from not existing and she lets him do it! Mai-san is honestly the only female anime Ive never for a second got annoyed at. Her maturity and love language. Her being unspoiled. Her being soo understanding with the whole pretendcouple and even with the threat of Sakuta’s first love, she never threw girlfriend tantrums but expressed her jealousy outright. I get frustrated at some female leads who acts immaturely or all too shy but Mai-san, her confidence in her feelings for Sakuta and His love for her is just so steadfast. I believe her when she said She loves Sakuta more than he knows. Those understandings and her ultimate sacrifice were proof. I was conflicted at the end with Sakuta’s reaction when he recognized Shouko and her to him. But I feel like this was the best so it wont drag him and his curiosity in the future of who that girl in his dream is. I feel like instead of love, it’s just compassion and sense of responsibility what he has for Shokou now. If I knew I could save someone’s life by sacrificing my own, that will scar me forever. If I chose the selfish path, id forever regret and wonder and of course if Id sacrifice, at least I saved someone but who can blame you if you chose to live and love right? One complain I have tho is a kissing scene!!!
@rubix4195 Жыл бұрын
The odd thing about Mai Sakurajima and Shoko Makinohara in contrast with girls like Tomoe Koga and Rio Futaba? Both girls are conservative traditionalists at heart - proper Yamato Nadeshiko types - and probably why the fan base loves them. Mai and Sakuta kissing scene? *cough* Volume 3: Logic Witch *cough* After Rio makes curry *cough*
@xxdcwolfxx8364 жыл бұрын
A scenario I actually wanted to see was if Sakuta was actually run over and Mai survived just like the timeline that future Shoko came from. But in this one, we get to see Mai try to fix everything instead of Sakuta. Idk but this scenario just interests me since we would get more Mai screentime.
@mpgow4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, more Mai sad moments maybe ):
@rubix4195 Жыл бұрын
As Mpgow said, nah, because Sakuta cracking up at Mai's death was brutal. Mai "I love him more than he knows" cracking up would be tantamount to torture and - knowing her - she would take the fall instead of him anyway on the day because she knows Sakuta would *never* let a young girl die when he could save her and it would be the guarantee that he lives. I mean look at that station scene when she already knows out that Sakuta from the future has spoken to Sakuta in the present - she *still* goes to the date because she's frantic that present Sakuta will kill himself because he knows Mai will take his place. Love can make people go crazy but sorrow can make them crazier.

This means that there are different timelines and realities; this uncovers a sad truth. (correct me if I'm wrong.) The reality where Mai died, Sakuta died and Shoko died, were not erased, they're still there and their timeline is still running. The reality where Mai died was the whole series that the anime has been showing us, and it was trashed just like that (because shoko had to go to the past, and the anime now have to focus on that timeline). Overall still a good anime.

thank you so much man! I was so confused at the end, but now most of it all makes sense. Guess I need to rewatch this a couple of times to really grasp it. Great Video!

I've thought about this a lot, and this is the conclusion I've come to: There are three shokos total; the youngest, the middle, and the oldest. The youngest (4th grade, present day shoko) doesn't know what to fill out on her homework, so she dreams of a simulated world where she gets older (the middle shoko) and experiences regrets and desires. Everything that the simulated middle shoko wants to do (graduate high school, get married, meet a nice boy, etc.) gets transmitted back to the youngest, and the youngest writes it down. This hw paper updates within the simulation (which explains why the paper keeps changing as the movie goes on). Everything written by 4th grade shoko manifests into all of the actions oldest shoko takes via puberty syndrome. Oldest shoko only exists within the simulation, and only exists to live out all of her younger shokos' desires/regrets from passing on too early. Because everything is a simulation, oldest shoko does not exist in a linear timeline within that world. (its like a puberty syndrome within a simulated world; a puberty syndrome within a puberty syndrome). Therefore, oldest shoko is able to do everything that 4th grade shoko wants to do, regardless of time in the simulation. And everything that 4th grade shoko wants to do is based off of what the middle experiences, desires and regrets. The movie establishes multiple timelines within the simulation itself. The first, i believe, is that sakuta dies on the 24th while on a date with Mai, thus saving middle shoko allowing her to grow into oldest shoko. The second timeline is that older shoko (with sakuta's heart) regrets not spending time with sakuta, so her regrets allow her to travel in between time within the simulation to do so. It can be interpreted, then, that the middle wants to lessen sakuta's suffering because he died for her. You could also say that the middle falls in love with him, so she wants nothing more than to make him happy. So the youngest writes down what she wants to do, and the oldest shoko acts within the simulation; often going in between timelines to do what she sets out to do. This is how the oldest shoko (with sakutas heart) is able to exist with the living sakuta. This is how the oldest shoko meets sakuta on the beach for the first time. This explains why the oldest shoko tries to trick sakuta into avoiding the car crash the day he's meant to die (she either wanted to save him because she loves him or she didn't want him to miss out on his own happiness in life... or both). It's a working theory, and imma edit this if i can think of anything else.

Side note: i wonder if one of middle shokos regrets is not spending enough time with Sakuta. Thus, the 4th grade shoko writes and wills the oldest shoko to spend as much time with him as she can.

@@Lucas30 I love hearing other people's theories!! I read it all, and I agree that the older Shokos wanted to spend more time with Sakuta before the car crash, and that she went 'back in time' to guide Sakuta so that he would live on. However, I think it is possible that the futute Shoko is still the first Shoko, just remember that she's a simulation, and she realized she wanted to help Sakuta after how much he supported her in the hospital, which is why she would be willing to influence his actions to save him.
