I also remember gun racks in just about every pick-up window at school and with their gun in the rack. No one ever thought one thing about it. I lived in a small town growing up. Still do, but a bit further NW of where I grew up. There were lots of farm kids who went straight to work on the farm after school. 😊 Those were the days........ ❤

Good morning Walkers. Cassie you are not spoiled, like me you are pampered for the work you do for Gary. lol Teaching kids to respect firearms is a natural thing in the country. If there was a firearm where my daughter wanted to be she would just say move that please. She was 5 years old. She got her first bb gun at 3, she knew they were not a toy that they could hurt you. She brought up her sons the same way.

Hey Y'all, Cassie forgot her glasses and Gary laughs. I was in the military 16 years and shot on target ranges countless times. I was a medic and provided medical support to the rifle ranges. While many medics read magazines and sunflower seeds I would go help with loading magazines in the ammo shack. So they always let me shoot whatever was being fired that day. I could really never see the 300 meter targets very well so I skipped those and used those for any of the shorter meter targets to get a solid score. Then One day I got glasses and OMG I could actually see the targets and hit them!! God bless take care

My Dad use to go hunting and get squirrels . Once when I was 3 or 4 my Dad was cleaning them on the kitchen table. It was covered in newspaper. My Grandmother cut the heads off , and one of the was facing me ,My eyes were about table high, I said loud enough for everyone in the kitchen to hear me. "Whatcha looking at me for I didn't shoot cha"😂😂❤❤ everyone had a good laugh

Hey, darlin' Cassie. I heard Y'all (a world wide expression now a days) say I love this, and I love that. My mom always reminded me that love is for the living: people, pets, and livestock; those who can love you back. Inanimate objects can't love you back. Just thought I might interject a thought.

When I went to school, guys had "Freedom sticks" in the holders in the school parking lot. They'd go hunting after school. My husband carried his to school on his horse. Yes! We are old, and he lived in a very rural farming community. He went to a one-room school! Part of the janitor's responsibility was to care for the horses.

Nice Marlin lever action! First deer I ever harvested I was using my kit built .50 muzzleloader. Hawken style frontier rifle. Hell, most of the vehicles in my High School parking lot had rifle racks in the back windows, or behind the seats. Come dove, turkey or deer season, many of them had something in them. Yes, in the school parking lot. Used to dove hunt with the principal, in the field across from the high school. Not quite school sanctioned, but school approved. Used the schools fridges to store the birds until the end of the day. And yes, that was in a public school system. Different era, with a whole lot different thinking than today.

I am old enough to remember when the trucks at school had those racks with the freedom sticks in them, many of us would go hunting after school. Half the time the vehicles were not even locked and never had an any issues at school. We also were taught from a young age firearm safety (much like you do with your children). Shows how times have changed, my daughter got in trouble for a fishingpole & tackle locked in her trunk (she was going fishing after school) The guidance councilor tried to say a dangerous weapon because fish hooks are sharp. Believe me, I told him what I thought of that stupidity. It got dropped.

And disputes were settled with fists not guns! I never heard of a kid taking that item out of the truck and use it on another person. Sad times now

I used to have my grandmas 20-20 dear riffle fir years and hunted deer with it. I was robbed and they stole it. However I still had the part that holds the bullets and had miss placed it so good that i never found it until i moved. I had taken my rifle to the gun shop that also dealt in Antique ones and found parts for lots of people in the entire valley. They also checked antique shows to get the replacement part but could never find one. The only satisfactions i got from it being stolen was that they didn't have that missing part. I was accustom to separating my parts. Love your new one. I loved mine because it didn't have a strong kick. My brothers 30 ot 6 would kick the snot out of my shoulder no matter how much i pressed it i to my shoulders. Congratulations Cassie. I love that little hunting buddy.
