Avatars are weird on that final mission. I had one die and their corpse land on the water. Except the game isn't supposed to have them land on water, so it tried to move it by having it bounce onto land. Except it didn't. For a solid minute I watched an Avatar ragdoll bounce on thin air in a circle

I just had a mission in the main campaign where a sectoid soldier literally noclipped off the map and ran out into the middle of a snowy field. Funny thing is, I could still shoot it because because it still had an actual location on the map, it was just the model that was misplaced.

For that first weird Avatar: Bug with Reveal-Hits - when the Avatar gets hit, it teleports as usual, but the *animation of moving into cover* prevents the teleport to be visible as the Avatar still has to run into cover. So, yeah, you didn't flank it because it actually wasn't there. Animations still treated it as if it would be, but for positioning, it is not. And you have bugger all idea where it really is.

8:03 The actual chance was 2.25% Edit: I'm dumb, the 2.25% would be execution triggering twice in a row, the chance for getting an execution on the second shot is 12.75%

The second shot is 15%, probability doesn't care about history (although XCOM could be secretly weighted) The chance of either hitting is 1-(0.85)^2 = 27.75%

I am starting to theorize that the elders had the avatar project near done shortly after the invasion, but then came along Central and pals to kill every finished Avatar, thus forcing the Elders to start the entire project all over again from scratch. This would have then sparked the events of the main campaign. Just a joke theory. Love the videos Sethorven. Keep up the good work!

That zombie costing you score was actually a glitch. For some bizarre, unintentional reason, zombies raised by a Gatekeeper's Gateway ability count as soldiers, so getting them damaged and/or killed costs you score when it shouldn't, and thus renders them effectively useless: they're supposed to be cannon fodder/damage sponges - since their attacks are kinda pathetic - but you can't do that when it's costing you quite a bit of score.

The thing with the avatar was that it glitched out its movement. See whats meant to happen is it'll teleport every time it gets hit, but you hit it while it was moving with an overwatch and it just went fucking haywire, and was in 2 places at once.
