I love the soundtrack of both of these games but my love of the original ost is really dampened a bit by the composer being a gigantic transphobic prick. Great music, fantastic even, pity about the dude attached to it. Below Zero's OST is great too, thankfully doesn't have the dickhead problem but like you said it doesn't quite have that ambience

I'll be the first to admit I enjoyed the sea truck simply because having a modular thing which can tow a bunch of shit when I need it then dump it off and go sploring when I don't is actually REALLY neat and saw FAR more use than the cyclops ever did when I played the first game

Subnautica to me gives off that scary and unknown atmosphere because you're stranded on an alien planet against your will, fighting the unknown fauna and flora in depths while you explore these unknown alien ruins in hopes of curing a disease you contracted that will definitely kill you. It seems like everything is out to kill you, and you need to do anything survive. Below Zero feels more like a rerun. You're visiting a planet you've been to before for a field trip, trying to figure out what happened to your sister. No virus to kill you, and the Leviathans aren't as scary. You're just there to do research. Which is fine, both games give off similar yet different enough atmospheres. Explains why Below Zero was originally meant to be DLC.

I just came here after KZbin recommended me the “Subnautica gave me thalassophobia” video. I remember hearing something along the lines of “and it you stick around, I’ll make a comparison video”… That was 3 years ago lmao Anyways, great video

"Great trees pierce the sky, as if holding the world up above them" It's funny you should mention that...

Can we please acknowledge that Marguerit is directly responsible for Sam's death... and she's never called out for it? Her dumb, irresponsible, and ineffective plan lead to Sam getting blown up. If Sam had just stuck to her original plan, the bacteria would've been neutralized and she'd still be alive. But Marguerit just acts like it was all a mere accident that no one could've prevented. She doesn't feel that she had anything to do with it. And Robin of course doesn't even bring it up.

Best way I have ever seen a yt video end, especially a serious one. Nothing better than listening to someone talk about the ins and outs and pros and cons of a game for the better part of an hour, and then watching a bloody mushroom go space shuttle status while Seth rushes to pull up fitting music

I legit cried as an adult at the end of this game. People always ask name one game you wish you could play again for the first time, mine is 100 percent this one. Watching your playthrough was the next best thing....Im glad you loved it as much as I did!

I still remember how long I've been chased by a sea dragon next to the contaiment facility he chased me all the way to the upper lava zone and i belive he gave up only when i reached the lava castle. And then the second one started. Let's just say that his roar still terrifies.
