4/20/21 11:54 pm Haven't watched Man of Steel; although I have first encountered this piece when it was February of 2017, from a fanmade movie edit. I was 13 years old- naive, lost, torn and helpless. Lisa's ethereal voice and the unwavering hymn got me to listen for awhile and ponder, _"It must be a curse to feel so deeply, and not knowing my future, what painfully lies ahead. But nothing can ever be more painful for not knowing if I'll ever get out of this dark place. For a lifetime it's just all sorrows, the joy ahead I can't touch from my hands."_ I'm 17 now. The dark place is no more, but even if it creeps out, I just accept it and thank myself for having able to survive them. I admit, listening to this piece again has unburied old raw emotions and it's bittersweet. Heart pounding like it has been stabbed by a sharp, serrated dagger like it was 4 years ago. Time flies just decently. I am not alone anymore. And I'm looking forward in the future to talk about this with the person I'll love the most, with this song echoes around the shore... squat in the sand, looking towards the horizons and yellow skies above me. The vastness and serenity of the ocean that perfectly emphasized the depth of the stories we'd share to each other. I'll be turning 18 in September.

Whenever I listen to this, it always reduces me to utter weeping with the most exquisitely joyous sadness imaginable. It whispers to me "we are only, we are all, we are not." I know Lisa is just a person like the rest of us persons; but the vocal gift she has and that she chooses to use it the way she does elevates her in my fantasy mind to the level of a true living goddess. If home sapiens could exist to the tune of this voice and theses notes, suffering would not be.

Just an FYI - this has been used in many a trailer for movies, most notably Man of Steel, 2nd Trailer along with "Storm" by A.R. Rahman, But the Gerrard theme people refer to in Gladiator is actually Elysium (at the end when he is dying) and "The Wheat" at the beginning when he is dreaming of being home. But Elegy is not in either the Gladiator or Man of Steel soundtrack. Hope this clears up some of the confusion,
