So there is more to the Clans now that I think on it. This can be a really tough faction for novices to get up and running, and your early game is so critical to your success, however, there are some key decision points in every Clan game I have played that I will lay out your options here. A. The Clans are a wide empire almost more than any other. Your ability to generate vast amounts of dust depends on trade routes, and the more of those you have, the more dust per turn you generate, but this has its downsides that must be countered effectively. You must suppress your urge to expand early because... Happiness issues!!! Also.. Before producing a settler you should have no less than four population in your starting city, or any city for that matter, so you can quickly bounce back from the pop loss. B. The Clans also require a lot of science and influence generation. Science can be offset with science buildings, but Influence is really hard to generate reliably. There are not many influence buildings and they are costly. For this reason and others, you really have to specialize your cities. C. Mid-late game, Clans really need and should be producing absurd amounts of dust. Were talking 8-10k/turn mid-game, and anywhere from 15-30k/turn late-game. At that point, you will have be buying out everything you need and spending huge sums on Privateer armies to rape your enemies secretly.

4 pop before your first settler seems kind of unrealistic unless you get blessed with a great food start

@@frostyman5863 You can always move, and also early game your moving city is a pretty powerful unit.

So as not to just leave a bad comment, let me elaborate about your mistakes and what you actually should have done. I will try to be as concise as possible, but there were so many mistakes you made in the first 30 minutes that its hard to put this to paper. A) Roving Clans is all about the DUST. DUST DUST DUST!! Your game depends on you making vast amounts of that resource above all others. From the beginning of the game all the way until the end, its all about dust production. In late game you should be producing around 15k per turn of dust at least. 1. You are actually incorrect about your assumptions for Roving Clans starting city needs. Your priorities should be A) Food, B) Industry... That's it. Dust in your starting city is a great thing to get if you can, but not at the expense of A and B. BTW, This is the order for most of the factions, but certainly not all of them. 2. ALWAYS put your population on food growth for the first two. ALWAYS. In every city you build. This is the golden rule of EL. Why?.. Growth is the name of this game. City population is what gives you the ability to do everything you need to do both in the short and long term. And on that note... 3. NEVER. EVER. Not even one time. Not for any faction. DO NOT EVER settle another region before you first Empire Plan. There are some extremely rare circumstances where you can break this golden rule, but it is so rare as not even to mention here. Which leads me to Empire Plan.. 4. As Roving Clans you have a lot of options here for your first plan. It completely depends on the circumstances of your game at the time and your goals but in any case, ALWAYS make triply sure you have enough Influence to get the first dust bonus. A lot of games I go for vision on the first plan, but I always try to then get 40 influence so I can still get the dust bonus as well. You should also try to go for science, but that is not so critical as getting that dust bonus. 5. Combat. You mismanaged that fight with the Delvers so badly. Roving Clans is all about Cavalry and Cavalry support. In every fight you get into with them, engage the enemy on turn 1 unless your units wont be able to reach them. When you engage, make doubly sure you leave room for your units to move around between the enemy. Move your units every turn, not necessarily to engage other units, but they need to keep their charge bonus up, so keep them moving. 6. You did a GOOD JOB of explaining how the Setseke works and how to settle them between destinations. This is the true power of Roving Clans and one of their greatest strengths. Pro tip: Resettle all your cities often to take advantage of free resources processors once you get the tech. You can pick your city up and settle it right on top of a resource like Titanium and (if you have the tech) get a free processor, then move on to the next one. That's what I remember for now. There were many more rookie mistakes, such as your decisions for which regions to settle first and your failure to scout early game effectively, but I will leave room for others to chime in.

+Linux Dave thanks for taking the time to argument. Let me reply: A. Not sure where I say they are not about dust? I mentioned at the beginning they are best for economic, so obviously that is saying they are made to produce dust. 1. I would disagree with that. I've had great results with industry focus on my first (and only first city). It is very dependant on starting position and faction but I don't think producing industry instead of food is a rookie mistakes. He'll, even Panczasu suggests that in his first turns guides. 2. Always? What about min maxing ? Also see my above comment. Food first is one strategy for sure and it works great, but it's not the only one. 3. True, I should have mentioned it and you are mostly right. 4. Ok 5. I think I mentioned during the video I micro managed that fight badly. It's harder than you think to record a video, comment in live conditions and make no mistakes. In the end I still won the battle so I would say I made small mistakes but surely not rookie mistakes. 6. Thanks! Yeah Setseke are cool but hard to get. Overall I admit one rookie mistake which is settling before the first empire plan. I appreciate your feedback but I think it's a bit harsh to say I'm clueless about the game and that I don't have basic knowledge. I recorded more than 10 hours of guide for this game and played 100+ hours, I think a little respect would be appreciated. But hey thanks, even if voiced that way you gave good feedback and I'll make sure to take it under consideration for my next videos!
